LATEST NEWS ON NEW ICE RINK

Following Ayr Ice Rink closing in September 2023, a steering group was set up to
look at the feasibility of building a new curling ice rink for Ayrshire. This
group meets once a month and their first task was to form a new not for profit
company limited by guarantee with charitable status. This has now been achieved
and is called Curl Ayrshire Charity.

A meeting was held on 6 August 2024 for all Ayr Curling Club members to explain
how the proposed transition to the new charity would affect members, examine
costings and the viability of a new facility. A further report will be given at
the Ayr Curling Club AGM on 27 August 2024, following which an EGM will be held
to seek approval for the transition of membership to the new entity, Curl
Ayrshire Charity.

Sourcing of funding will of course be a priority. It is anticipated that funding
will comprise donated funds and grant funding.

Several possible sites have been considered. If anyone knows of a suitable site
(approximately 1.5 acres) please send an email to office@ayrcurlingclub.co.uk
