EXPLORING GRAD SCHOOL WEEK

Exploring Grad School Week is your chance to discover how an advanced degree can
help bring your professional and academic future into focus. This week of events
has something for everyone interested in graduate school: Grad School 101, GRE
Prep, Program Spotlights and more! 

Exploring Grad School Week shines most during two key events: UNT Grad Studies
Expo and UNT Grad School Open House.
UNT Grad Studies Expo

Similar to an academic fair, the Grad Studies Expo gives academic departments
the opportunity to showcase their graduate programs. You will be able to meet
with program representatives to discuss degree options, program admission
requirements, potential research opportunities and more.
UNT Grad School Open House

The Grad School Open House gives prospective students outside of the UNT
community the chance to visit campus, learn about our programs, mingle with
current graduate students, and meet our faculty.

MONDAY, SEPT. 25

Spotlight on Social Science Programs (UNT Campus)
 * When: 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
 * Where: University Union Room 339
 * What: Join us for an informative session on various Social Science programs
   here at UNT such as Social Work, Sociology, Behavior Analysis, Rehabilitation
   Counseling, and Health Services Administration. Delve into the fascinating
   world of social sciences, encompassing academic studies and scientific
   research on human behavior within social and cultural contexts. Our faculty
   panel features knowledgeable experts from each of these captivating subjects.

Beyond the Bachelors: Exploring Graduate Degrees and Career Paths (UNT Campus)
 * When: 2-3 p.m.
 * Where: University Union Room 339
 * What: Depending on your career interests and goals, pursuing a graduate
   degree may be a requirement. Some professions demand additional education and
   training beyond a bachelor's degree to enter and excel in the field. In this
   session, you will gain an understanding of career paths and job opportunities
   that typically require an advanced degree, develop skills in researching
   occupational data and educational prerequisites, and explore examples of
   careers that can be pursued with graduate degrees from the University of
   North Texas.

 * What: Not sure if now is the right time for grad school for you? Learn how an
   advanced degree can expand your knowledge and advance your career. Hear from
   UNT's graduate admissions counselors on how to get started. They will discuss
   what graduate school is and how to find the right program. They will also
   cover the application process and guide you through the ways UNT supports
   graduate students.

 * When: 4-5 p.m.
 * Where: Virtual/Zoom
 * What: Wondering if it’s too late for you to come back for grad school? Hear
   from our graduate admissions counselors on why it’s never too late to
   continue your education. In this session, we will dispel common grad school
   myths and walk you through the process of returning to school at UNT.

Which sessions should I attend? 

You can choose your own adventure by finding sessions that interest you and fit
your schedule. 

Will the sessions be recorded?

Our virtual sessions will be recorded and available on our website within a week
after the event.

Can I attend the sessions if I’m not a current UNT student or alumni?

Yes! All sessions are open to anyone interested in attending. 

I registered for a session but didn’t get a confirmation.

Check your spam folders as often emails may be blocked by email clients. The
email would come from UNT Graduate Admissions.

Will parking be provided for all sessions?

The only session that parking will be provided for is the Grad School Open House
on Friday, Sept 29. Parking options for other sessions should use UNT parking
permits or other visitor parking options like our parking garages. 

Will I be able to talk to someone in my program of interest?

Most of our programs will be represented during the Grad Studies Expo and at the
Grad School Open House. We will continue to post participating programs so be
sure to check back often. Feel free to reach out to a graduate advisor if you
have more detailed questions.

How do I access the virtual sessions?

After you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email that has a personalized
link to access the session. You won’t be able to access the session until 5
minutes before it will start. Didn’t get your email? We’ll send a reminder 24
hours before the event – also check your spam folder!

Do I need to register to attend any of the events?

Registration is strongly encouraged for all events, but required for access to
the virtual events. Virtual events will require access through an email provided
upon registration.

Is there a deadline to register for any of the sessions?

While we encourage early registration, there is no deadline.
