‘CHRISLEY KNOWS BEST’ STARS TODD AND JULIE CHRISLEY SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR
FRAUD

Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years, while Julie received a 7-year sentence

Todd and Julie Chrisley, the star couple in USA Network’s original series
“Chrisley Knows Best,” were sentenced to a combined total of 19 years in federal
prison Monday.

According to WSB-TV in Atlanta, Todd has been sentenced to 12 years in prison,
and Julie has been senteced to seven years. The couple’s “15-year fraud spree”
consisted of the alleged use of fake paperwork that gained them $30 million in
bank loans. The couple then defaulted on more than $20 million in debt when Todd
declared bankruptcy in 2012. They also hid large amounts of money earned from
their show from the IRS.

Both Chrisleys were charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud,
conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax fraud. Julie Chrisley was also
charged with wire fraud and obstruction of justice.

‘Chrisley Knows Best’ to Continue Airing on USA After Stars’ Convictions

The Chrisleys were convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in June. Both stars
will follow up their time in jail with 16 months probation each. Both sentences
dealt came out lighter than predicted, with Todd Chrisley facing up to 22 years
and his wife Julie facing upwards of 12 years.

While “Chrisley Knows Best” — USA network’s most-watched original series —
continued airing despite its stars’ convictions, Deadline points to the
discontinuation of both the hit parent show as well as its spin-off “Growing UP
Chrisley,” documenting Chase and Savannah’s adult lives away from their
celebrity couple parents.

“Chrisley Knows Best” received a 10th season renewal a month prior to the
convictions, and USA Network will air several episodes from this season, filmed
before the trial, next year. “Growing UP Chrisley,” which ran for three seasons
on USA Network, moved to E! for its fourth season.

Todd was also set to host “Love Limo,” a show ordered by E! in which he would

FOX, NBCUNIVERSAL, PARAMOUNT, WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY ESTABLISH JOINT COMMITTEE
TO DEVELOP NEW MEASUREMENT STANDARDS

The JIC will create a new unified streaming viewership dataset through OpenAP

Lucas Manfredi | January 9, 2023 @ 10:05 am

Fox, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery and TelevisaUnivision are
teaming up with advanced advertising firm OpenAP and the Video Advertising
Bureau to establish a new Joint Industry Committee (JIC).

The committee will “enable multiple currencies with the primary focus of
creating a measurement certification process to establish the suitability of
emerging cross-platform measurement solutions in advance of the 2024 upfront.”
It will also create a new unified streaming viewership dataset through OpenAP.

“The sustainability of the premium video advertising model depends on an
ecosystem for measurement that is transparent, independent, inclusive, and
accurately reflects the way all people consume premium video content today –
across multiple screens, connections, and devices,” NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell,
Paramount CEO Bob Bakish, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and
TelevisaUnivision CEO Wade Davis said in a joint statement. “By coming together
to establish this JIC, we can collaborate and accelerate the efforts to
implement a new multi-currency future that fosters more competition, inclusivity
and innovation and will ultimately better serve advertisers, agencies and
consumers.”

In the coming months, the JIC intends to expand membership to other qualified
premium video programmers and elicit active participation from advertising
agencies and qualified trade bodies to advance the multi-currency future in this
collaborative forum.

Beginning this month, the JIC will fund key data initiatives to accelerate
measurement innovation, including:

 * Establish and maintain a measurement certification process in partnership
with the VAB that will be housed inside of the JIC for third-party
measurement vendors conducting cross-platform premium video currency services
that will be operational by Broadcast Year 2024.
 * Create a programmer data set to enable third-party measurement vendors by
harmonizing streaming viewership data brought together by OpenAP
   infrastructure.
 * Engage a third-party audit firm to verify the accuracy of the streaming
viewership dataset in order to maintain measurement independence and
   neutrality.
 * Collaborate with the VAB and ANA to accelerate progress made to measurement
calibration by both parties, as well as with other key Industry Trade
Bodies including the 4A’s, IAB, ARF and more.

The JIC will formalize and officially announce its measurement certification
standards on March 1. It will also host an event on April 25 sharing a first
look at progress being made to accelerate “the multi-currency future and upfront
readiness of measurement partners.”

‘THE VIEW': ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN PREDICTS KEVIN MCCARTHY WILL BE ‘THE SHORTEST
SPEAKER IN HISTORY’ (VIDEO)

”They’re gonna struggle to keep the lights on,“ Farah Griffin said

Andi Ortiz | January 9, 2023 @ 9:45 am

The View

It took 15 tries, but Kevin McCarthy finally secured the votes he needed to
become the next House speaker on Friday night. But “The View” host Alyssa Farah
Griffin is pretty sure that his tenure in the position will be the shortest “in
history.”

To kick off the discussion on McCarthy during Monday’s Hot Topics, moderator
Whoopi Goldberg tried to nip it in the bud. Playing back footage of the
near-brawl between Alabama Republican Mike Rodgers and Matt Gaetz — which came
after Gaetz torpedoed McCarthy’s 14th attempt — Whoopi posed the topic to her
co-hosts very sarcastically.

“Given how this particular clown show has played out, do you have any hope — any
hope at all — that they will actually do any business? Get any business done?”
she asked. When her colleagues answered a resounding “no,” she jokingly moved
on, saying “OK, next!”

Of course, the women did actually have a longer discussion on the topic. Host
Sunny Hostin called the exchange “so uncivilized,” and noted that, for as much
as “Republicans like to use identity politics” and “talk about thugs” often, “I
saw a lot of thuggishness going on.”

Also Read:
‘The View': Alyssa Farah Griffin Calls Kevin McCarthy ‘Obstructionist’ in Bid
for House Speaker: ‘He Needs to Wake Up’ (Video)

Speaking more to McCarthy’s future specifically, the women reiterated their
concerns over the concessions he made to the most far-right of his party in
order to get the job, which included changing the number of votes needed to
potentially unseat a sitting speaker.

Host Alyssa Farah Griffin was particularly interested in seeing that play out,
recounting her memories of working in the House in 2015 when Mark Meadows issued
the motion to vacate, to try to unseat then-Speaker John Boehner. Farah Griffin
noted that, when that happened, Boehner went directly to Nancy Pelosi, who
promised that the Democrats would vote for Boehner, in an effort to not “get a
crazier further right speaker.”

As a result, Farah Griffin predicted that McCarthy will have the shortest run as
speaker in the history of its existence.

“That goodwill existed. It does not with Kevin McCarthy,” Farah Griffin said.
“After January 6, no Democrat is going to come to save him when his radical
caucus comes against him. I think he’s going to be the shortest speaker in
history and I think they’re going to struggle to keep the lights on. It’s so
disappointing.”

PARAMOUNT+ SCRAPS ‘WORKAHOLICS’ MOVIE WEEKS BEFORE FILMING WAS SUPPOSED TO BEGIN

”Hopefully we will get to make this insanely fun movie somewhere else,“ series
star and executive producer Adam Devine wrote on Instagram

Benjamin Lindsay | January 9, 2023 @ 8:33 am

Comedy Central

Paramount+ has pulled the plug on a greenlit “Workaholics” movie just five weeks
before filming was scheduled to begin.

Series star and executive producer Adam Devine shared the news via Instagram on
Monday, writing, “Obviously, this news is the loosest butthole.”

“We were suppose to begin filming in 5 weeks! P + told us don’t fit their new
‘global’ strategy…We are deeply butt hurt about this decision because we were so
excited to bring the weird one last time,” Devine continued. “I’m butt hurt that
I don’t get to work with my best friends again. I’m butt hurt for the fans, and
I’m butt hurt for our loyal crew, and other cast members who are now going to
have to scramble to find new jobs.”

He concluded: “We are out to other streamers, and hopefully we will get to make
this insanely fun movie somewhere else. Tomorrow tune into our podcast [This Is
Important] to hear us talk about it. As always, take it sleazy, and I’m out.”

Created and co-written by stars Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine, Anders Holmand Kyle
Newacheck (alongside Connor Pritchard and Dominic Russo), “Workaholics” was a
popular Comedy Central original sitcom that ran for seven seasons between 2011
and 2017. It focused on college dropouts trying to get out of trouble, but
failing each and every time. They clashed with their co-workers and each other,
but continued to party and pull pranks.

In December, it was revealed that Paramount+ greenlit a “Workaholics” film that
was meant to expand upon the show’s finale and show what it was like to work in
the pandemic. Production was set to begin in Spring 2023.

This film was one of the many sequels, remakes and reboots that Paramount+ is
making, including “iCarly,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Frasier” and “Rugrats,” to
name a few.

KINO LORBER HIRES FORMER AMC EXECUTIVES ED CARROLL AND LISA SCHWARTZ TO C-SUITE

Carroll and Schwartz will serve as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Revenue
Officer, respectively

Independent film distributor Kino Lorber has recruited former AMC Networks
executives Ed Carroll and Lisa Schwartz to respectively serve as Chief Strategy
Officer and Chief Revenue Officer, the company announced Monday.

The news comes just two months after Kino Lorber acquired North American
streaming service MHz Choice. The distributor said that both Carroll and
Schwartz will help shape the company’s content and distribution strategies,
including an “accelerated expansion into digital spaces.”

Before joining Kino Lorber, Carroll had a three-decades-long career at AMC
Networks, where he oversaw the development of many successful television series,
including “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad,” “The Walking Dead,” “Portlandia,” “Killing
Eve” and “Inside the Actors Studio.” Previously, he was President at Bravo and
COO of AMC Networks, where he was in charge of all programming, marketing, ad
sales and international distribution. He also helped launch AMC Networks’
streaming channels, including Acorn, Sundance Now and Shudder, and he led the
launch of AMC+.

“Bringing prestige content to market and helping it find a wide audience has
been the most fun and satisfying part of my career,” Carroll said in a press
release provided to TheWrap. “Richard Lorber and his team have built a company
that stands for high-quality storytelling, and I am excited to help build on
that success.”

Schwartz, meanwhile, had a 20-year tenure at AMC Networks. Most recently, she
oversaw IFC Films. She also helmed the distribution of Oscar-nominated films and
documentaries, like “Boyhood,” “Two Days,” “One Night,” “45 Years” and “Finding
Vivian Maier.” Additionally, Schwartz was lead architect for the development and
launch of the IFC Films Unlimited SVOD service and IFC Films Pick, its first
AVOD streaming channel.

“I have been a longtime admirer of Kino Lorber and their acclaimed films,”
Schwartz said in a statement. “I’m excited to bring their high-quality, diverse
new releases and extensive catalog films to passionate, discerning audiences
through expanding access on both digital and traditional distribution platforms.
I’m looking forward to working together with Richard, Ed and Martha to continue
to grow the business.”

Lorber added: “Ed and Lisa are a powerful combination and I’m thrilled to
welcome them both to the Kino Lorber C-suite. Following our acquisition of the
MHz Choice streaming service, it’s the perfect time for them to join, as we
further innovate our distribution strategies to make prestige international film
and TV content accessible to audiences throughout North America. Like me, they
care intensely about quality, and finding and sharing artistically elevated
stories that connect across many genres.”
