WHAT IS SCOUTING ...

By enrolling in Scouting, you open the door to explore a vast range of new
experiences, opportunities, adventures, and friendships. As with other Scout
Groups throughout Manitoba and the rest of Canada, youth are divided into five
age categories called sections. While some events and activities span two or
more sections, each section holds separate weekly meetings, runs a separate
program, and even has its own logo.

What could be more Canadian than a Beaver shouting out its motto of "sharing,
sharing, sharing"? Girls and boys from age 5 to 7 gather for an hour of games,
crafts and learning on Monday nights.

Based on the wolves and other associated critters in The Jungle Book by Rudyard
Kipling, Wolf Cubs, a.k.a. Cub Scouts (girls and boys age 8 to 10) practice "do
your best" on Tuesday nights.

The original scouting section, Scouts is for girls and boys, 11 to 14 years of
age. 67th Winnipeg Scouts develop responsibility and leadership skills through
their motto of "be prepared" on Wednesday nights.

Young men and women, 15 to 17, put the "venturer" in "adventurer." Outdoor
activities are an essential part of the program and align with the Venturer
Scout motto of "challenge."

Men and women Rover Scouts meet in a "crew," developing and managing their own
program. With the motto of "Service," Rover Scouts also act in leadership roles
with younger Scouting sections.

Adults, Become A Leader/Volunteer!

Want to enjoy Scouting with your child? Become a Leader! We're always looking
for interested volunteers. Roles include section-Scouters (who work directly
with the youth), as well as group administration, fundraising, etc. Please talk
to any of our current leaders for more information.

By breaking the group into sections, youth can participate in age-appropriate
activities, yet still progress within the same group.

The program year for each section typically runs from September to June (usually
a bit shorter for Beaver Scouts, the youngest section).

Cost and Registration Process:

 * * Fees for the 2023 calendar year:

     * Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturer Scouts: $230

     * Adult volunteers and Rover Scouts: no charge

     * Registration for the January 2023 Scouting Year (calendar year) opens for
current new participants (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers) on
       September 1, 2022.

   * Plus weekly/monthly dues, uniform shirt and guide/map. You can purchase
uniforms at scoutshop.ca and/or view insignia placement here.

   * Some fees are also applied to camps and other special outings.

 * Families are also asked to take part in fundraising activities, and other
   volunteer roles with the group.

 * Start your Scouting adventure today! To register your youth, please use the
on-line facility at myscouts.ca. or register at
   https://www.myscouts.ca/ca/join

The registration year for participants is the calendar year, with annual fees
due each January 1. However, youth registrations and adult leader volunteers are
accepted pretty much any time of the year.

Information subject to change (particularly, because of COVID).
