APS HSPC

Arlington's first programming competition for middle and high school students.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the contest rules?
Rules can be found in the contest information packet. If you have any other
questions, please contact contactarlingtoncs@gmail.com.
What programming languages can be used?
Python and Java will be the only languages allowed during the competition, in
alignment with APS's Computer Science curriculum.
Are any sample problems available?
Yes, sample problems are available here
What should I bring on the day?
It is recommended that you bring the following items:
 * Any paper reference materials that may help you (you will not be allowed to
   use the internet during the contest)
 * Pen/Pencil

Please note: you should not bring a computer to participate in the contest.

Who runs the event?
The APS HSPC is an a volunteer student-run event. Nate Levin, Brayden Zee, and
Sheel Shah are the co-chair organizers of the 2025 event.

REGISTRATION

Please fill out the Google Form to register. Registration is completely free and
will be closed on January 10th, 2025.


LOCATION

The 2025 APS HSPC will be held in person at the Arlington Career Center.
Contestants should go to the main building upon arrival; a map will be provided
on this website closer to the event.


SPONSORSHIP

If you are interested in sponsoring the contest, and encouraging high school
students to pursue computer science, please email contactarlingtoncs@gmail.com.


TEAMS

Each team consists of up to three students from a middle or high school. Each
school may register an unlimited number of teams.


GET INVOLVED



We are in need of individuals who would like to:
 * Chaperone students
 * Write problems & solutions
 * Help students on the day with technology issues

Please reach out if you are interested in helping with these activities.

We are especially interested in support from Junior and Sophomore students that
are interested in running the APS HSPC in future years.
