HALLOWEEN FACE PAINT: 5 EASY STEPS TO TURN YOUR KID INTO A UNICORN

CBC KIDS STAFF

OCT 25, 2018

Many schools across Canada won't let kids wear masks for Halloween. Sometimes
this is a fact parents can forget all about until they come across a paper that
their kids were sent home with a month before. And then it's a last-minute
scramble to come up with a great idea that follows all the rules. It sounds
stressful, and it is. But it doesn't have to be! This Halloween, think outside
the mask with creative face paint ideas. We picked three popular costume ideas
(tiger, unicorn and vampire) that don't need a mask to look spectacular. With
the help of a face painter, we designed looks that look complicated but are
anything but — each look only takes five steps and requires minimal, affordable
materials (with the exception of the makeup, we got everything from a dollar
store). This time we create a dazzling unicorn!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

 * Tulip 11-colour paint palette
 * Nylon brushes
 * Triangular makeup sponges
 * Spray bottle (for water)
 * Cup (to clean brushes)
 * Cloth (to dry brushes)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW IT'S DONE

 1. Using a triangular sponge and make triangle shapes above the eyes and paint
    down the nose.
 2. Use a different colour to paint the forehead and the temples.
 3. Add the rainbow horn with a small brush.
 4. Outline details with black paint.
 5. Add the highlights and stars with white paint.

*Optional: Add sparkles, if you like!
