American Idol: Voting FAQ

Got some Idol questions? We've got answers!

1. When does voting for American Idol begin?

Voting for American Idol begins on Sunday, April 7th and Monday, April 8th at
the beginning of the East Coast broadcast at approximately 8pm ET/5pm PT each
night, when your votes decide who – from the contestants performing that night –
will be making it through to the Top 20 round of the competition. Each week,
your votes determine who makes it through to the next round and ultimately gets
crowned the next American Idol.

2. So how do I vote?

We have three convenient ways for you to keep your favorite contestants singing.
You can vote online at AmericanIdol.com/vote, in the American Idol app or via
text. You have to be at least 16 years old and located in the U.S., Puerto Rico
or the Virgin Islands to vote on ABC.com or in the American Idol app.

For text message voting, simply text the number of the contestant you would like
to vote for to “21523”. The number for each contestant is outlined below.

Julia Gagnon: text 4 to 21523

Abi Carter: text 8 to 21523

Kaibrienne: text 10 to 21523

Will Moseley: text 11 to 21523

McKenna Faith Breinholt: text 12 to 21523

Emmy Russell: text 17 to 21523

Jack Blocker: text 20 to 21523

Triston Harper: text 24 to 21523

Text voting is open to all Wireless Carriers. Message & data rates may apply.
SMS voting terms are available at idolmobileterms.vote now.tv.

3. When exactly can I vote?

Keep checking the American Idol app and website to find out when voting starts
and ends each week.

For the remainder of the season, voting for American Idol takes
place during each coast-to-coast live show and closes during the final
commercial break. Check AmericanIdol.com/vote or the American Idol app to find
out when to vote each week for the rest of the season

Check back here for updates on when to vote later in the season.

4. How many times can I vote?

Each week, you can submit up to ten (10) votes for each remaining contestant per
voting method (online at AmericanIdol.com/vote, in the American Idol app, and
via text message voting*). For example, if you want to vote for a given
contestant – you could submit: up to ten (10) votes for that contestant on
ABC.com, up to ten (10) votes for that contestant on the American Idol app and
up to ten (10) votes for that contestant via text message, for a total of up to
thirty (30) votes for that contestant across all voting methods that week.

When voting online at AmericanIdol.com/vote or in the American Idol app, you can
reallocate your votes until the voting window closes. Just be sure to hit “save”
each time you make a change to your votes!

*Text message voting is open to all Wireless Carriers. Message & data rates may
apply. SMS voting terms are available at idolmobileterms.votenow.tv.

5. What if I want to vote online or in the app? Anything in particular I need to
do first?
To vote at AmericanIdol.com/vote or in the American Idol app, an ABC account is
a must. We've made the process pretty easy for you. You can sign up for an ABC
account using your email address.

In addition, to vote via the American Idol app (App Store and Google Play
Store), you must download and install the app to your compatible device*.
* Standard data rates may apply for app download and usage.

6. I have an existing ABC account, why do I need to validate my email address?

We've changed our registration system for the better. You’ll have to log into
your ABC account. Then, the first time you try to register votes you will be
sent a confirmation email with a verification code. Just go back to the website
and enter the code where indicated to verify your email address and complete
voting registration. Once your account is validated, you're all set to vote now
and for the upcoming season. You can sign in at the top of the page to validate
your account.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the validation email to be delivered, so
give it a few minutes. Also, be sure to check your "spam" folder to make sure
the email didn't land there.

7. Help! I forgot my username and/or password.

Fear not! We can help. Head to the vote page—don't worry if voting's open or
not—and click "sign in." Links to recover your username and/or password are just
below the "password" field.

8. How do I change the email address associated with my account?

Once you're logged in, click on "Manage account" to manage all of your profile
settings including resetting your password and changing the email address
associated with your account.

This FAQ may be updated throughout the season, so be sure to check back!

feedback here. Please select “Request Technical Support”, and “Contest/Voting”
in the Category drop-down.

These cookies are necessary for our services to function and cannot be switched
off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you
which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy
preferences, logging in, accessing, searching, or discovering content, or
filling in forms. You can set your browser to block, or alert you about, these
cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work.

SELLING, SHARING, TARGETED ADVERTISING

Selling, Sharing, Targeted Advertising

We may use personal information to support “targeted advertising,” “selling,” or
“sharing,” as defined by applicable privacy laws, which may result in third
parties receiving your personal information. You or your legally authorized
agent can move the toggle above to the left to opt out of these activities on
this digital property consistent with applicable law. Please note that, because
these activities are based on online cookies, your opt-out choice is specific to
this property. If you access other digital properties of the Walt Disney Family
of Companies, you will need to make your election for each. Also, if you clear
your cookies on this browser or use another browser or device, you may need to
opt out again on this property.

In addition to the above toggle, you may choose to provide the information
requested in this opt-out form, which may enable us to take action on your
opt-out election more broadly than just on this digital property.

You may also choose to enable online, where available, a universal tool that
automatically communicates your opt-out preferences, such as the Global Privacy
Control (“GPC”). We will process the GPC signal as a request to opt out.

If you opt out, you may continue to see advertising, including ads that may be
based on personal information processed before you opted out.

You also may have rights to opt out from certain third parties selling and
sharing your personal information. You will need to separately exercise your
opt-out rights with regard to each, which you may do through this IAB opt-out
list. You may also wish to use other available online tools to limit various
types of interest-based advertising or tracking. To learn more, visit "Do Not
Sell or Share My Personal Information" and "Targeted Advertising" Opt-Out
Rights.
