YES, WHY NOT?! 06/09/2024 Humor THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF A COW THAT USES A CAMERA 1 Min read 06/08/2024 No matter how much advice we’ve tried to give this cow, it went in one ear and out the udder. Shockingly, Adobe, the trusted software giant for your creative endeavors, may be using your work, including unpublished and in-progress projects, to train AI models. This revelation, stemming from Adobe’s recent Terms and Conditions update, has unsettled users profoundly. Despite attempts to clarify changes in a recent blog post, trust in the brand is rapidly eroding. Continue Reading Shares Lenses 7ARTISANS 9MM F5.6 REVIEW: THE DIGITAL X PAN 3 Mins read 06/07/2024 7Artisans sent the 9mm f5.6 to us for review in 2023. I’ve truly never felt so incredibly challenged by a lens before. Wide-angle lenses are typically very fun, but something about this lens just seemed weird. It wasn’t until I started to look at the photos of Josef Koudelka more that it really hit me. Wide-angle lenses are all pretty much the same these days. And by all means, the 7Artisans 9mm f5.6 feels like a clinical lens that was given a haze filter inside. But when you use a super-power that L-series cameras have, it becomes something really wonderful. Continue Reading Shares Photography Culture HOW STREET PHOTOGRAPHY IS LINKED TO THE RISE OF VOYEURISTIC CONTENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA 3 Mins read 06/07/2024 In photography, the age-old debate of capturing images of strangers or celebrities without consent has been stirring up quite a storm. Once regarded as a tool for self-expression and documenting the ever-changing landscapes around us, photography has now morphed into a platform for scrutinizing peoples’ actions. Let’s face it, there’s an undeniable allure in observing the lives of others as they navigate public spaces. It’s like peering through a window into a world filled with intriguing narratives and untold stories. But here’s where things get tricky: is it ethical to take snapshots of unsuspecting individuals without their knowledge? The truth is, the answer isn’t as black and white as we might hope. Let me draw you a few scenarios to give you a better idea of the situation. Continue Reading Shares Photo Deals ONE OF THE BEST STREET PHOTOGRAPHY CAMERAS HAS A GREAT DEAL! 2 Mins read 06/07/2024 Street photographers, listen up! One of the Best Street Photography Cameras has a special deal. When we were originally briefed on the LUMIX S9, we weren’t aware of just how great it would be when shooting with it. But indeed, it’s something that you need to experience first-hand to truly grasp at how incredible it is. Coupled with class-leading image stabilization, Real Time LUT, and a beautiful look, LUMIX has truly made a camera that you want to bring with you everywhere. Lots of that same tech is in the LUMIX S5 II and the S5IIX. But those aren’t the only things that have discounts. There’s more below. Continue Reading Shares News REVOLOG ECHO IS THE COOLEST FILM WE’VE SEEN IN A WHILE 2 Mins read 06/06/2024 There’s a brand new film being announced today: Revolog Echo. It’s a pre-exposed film — and they’ve been known for doing this for several years. This film was previously exposed to prismatic textures. All you need to do is shoot with it the way you do and you’ll have an automatically double exposed film. Films like this have been around for years, and they tend to be really fun because of all the ways that you can get creative with them easily. Continue Reading Shares Software LEICA LUX REVIEW: THE LEICA LOOK, BUT FOR YOUR PHONE 3 Mins read 06/06/2024 The new Leica LUX app for your phone is pretty dope — it’s embracing the future as much as it is trying to keep the past and present alive. Unlike what so many other companies are doing with their phone apps, Leica LUX isn’t going to replace Leica Fotos. Instead, it’s a dedicated camera app that brings the same Leica looks to your phone. Previously, you needed special M series cameras, the Q3 or the SL3 to do this. However, it also gives me a burning question: Why can’t I get these looks with my $5000 Leica camera that I paid for only a few years ago? Continue Reading Shares Lenses TAMRON 50-300MM F4.5-6.3 DI III VC VXD REVIEW: A LENS FOR GENERAL SHOOTS 7 Mins read 06/06/2024 I need to start this review with a statement: I don’t love shooting with Sony cameras. In fact, I’m convinced that people who do need to understand that the soul of a product is being engineered out of it. I hated math growing up — and when there’s too much math put into something, it removes the human element. But what saves Sony cameras for me has consistently been Tamron lenses. And today, the company is announcing their Tamron 50-300mm F4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD. This lens is designed for various photographers. You’d probably use it if you were doing sports photography with your kids running around. And you’d probably also use it for photojournalistic affairs. Better yet, it’s also an incredible portrait lens. Our favorite thing about this lens, though, is the colors. Continue Reading Shares News THE PENTAX WG-8 MIGHT BE THE TOUGHEST CAMERA IN THE WORLD 3 Mins read 06/05/2024 If you ever wanted to get a child into photography but were always afraid to spend a ton of money, the new Pentax WG-8 might be the remedy. It can go down to 65.6 feet of water for up to two hours — which Ricoh is claiming to be the equivalent of an IPX8 rating without confirming their certification. It can also fall from 6.8 feet and keep working. Unless you’re really feeding your children steroids, that’s likely to not happen. But perhaps best of all, it works to around 14°F — which is great for when you’re out in the snow. Of course, it also sounds like a camera for anyone who bought the Apple Watch Ultra and actually uses it for its intended needs. And that’s not all that’s being announced today. Continue Reading Shares News THE PANASONIC GH7 ISN’T REALLY FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS 2 Mins read 06/05/2024 The Panasonic GH7 is being announced today, and I truly feel like I should get a few things out of the way that you might want to know. First off, I was briefed on this camera before its announcement, but I declined reviewing it and doing more than writing about the announcement. In my briefing, I concluded that the camera isn’t really for photographers as if anything, it’s basically a suped-up version of the G7 II and a baby version of the S5 II. That’s to say that this is what I think of it for photography at least. But for video, I think that the GH7 could be an excellent tool for the artist and music video community. But here’s what photographers might want to know about the new GH7.
