01. Acid Reflux Can Be Easily Treated With

OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATION

Non-surgical options can help manage symptoms by decreasing or eliminating acid
production in your stomach. However, for those with GERD, the actual root issue
lies in the mechanics of your body, and the actual acid reflux is still
occurring. If left untreated, GERD could put you at risk for other, more serious
health issues.

core, connected together with titanium wires to form a ring shape.

 

The LINX device is implanted around the lower oesophageal sphincter (a sphincter
is a muscle that surrounds and closes a bodily opening) to strengthen a weak
sphincter. Using the device helps to prevent the contents of the stomach from
backing up into the oesophagus (reflux).

Fundoplication

In this surgery, your surgeon will: First repair the hiatal hernia, if one is
present. This involves tightening the opening in your diaphragm with stitches to
keep your stomach from bulging upward through the opening in the muscle wall.
The surgeon will then wrap the upper part of your stomach around the end of your
oesophagus with stitches. The stitches create pressure at the end of your
oesophagus, which helps prevent stomach acid and food from flowing up from the
stomach into the oesophagus.
