Our main goals are to create highly robust cognitive control systems for this kind of robots and to bring novel ideas into particular solutions. Central tasks in the lab involve sensing of the environment and processing and understanding of the acquired sensor data. This in turn leads towards automated world model building and/or updating as well as the creation and storage of large maps. The learned models of the world are then used for planning of robot activities and for self-navigation in real environments (both indoor and outdoor). SUCCESS STORIES Our team – David Woller (PhD student led by Miroslav Kulich) and Jakub Rada (bachelor student) successfully participated at the ROADEF Challenge 2020 optimization competition . After winning the semifinal phase in the Junior category, the team ranked 2nd in the final phase in the category and 8th in the overall ranking (among 74 international teams). [more info] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We (D. Woller, V. Kozák, V. Vávra, and M. Kulich) won the Competition on Electric Vehicle Routing Problem, organized within the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence 2020 decisively with an adaptation of the Variable Neighborhood Search metaheuristic. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- more success stories -- EVENTS & NEWS JUNE 13TH - JUNE 17ND, 2022 Iran Masoumeh Mansouri (https://iranmansoori.github.io), an assistant professor at the University of Birmingham, visited our lab. We discussed possible cooperation related to routing problems in dynamic environments. APRIL 25TH - MAY 2ND, 2022 Our student team led by David Zahrádka qualified for the final round at F1Tenth virtual GrandPrix. They placed at 6th place in the qualification (from 43 teams).
