Exactly.

It's really annoying when you're doing something and the theme changes mid
'doing'.

If people really want the auto-switch that much, maybe they could 'tasker' a
simple skin changer (but ofc, they'd also have to create the skins).

I always disable that stuff.
I want either Dark or Light. (I mainly use Dark everywhere)
Changing themes, confusing me from what I used to it.

Just my 2 cents to that topic:
If not several clever developers had pushed dark themes with their software
(like substratum and others) we probably would have white screens until today.
I'm on XDA for several years and I often got the feeling that the best ideas,
mods and custom stuff that were released by those devs a bit later were
implemented by Google part by part into Android.
So I think the biggest part of clever inventions came from those people,
Irrespective of who made dark/light themes available.

But back to topic, this has been discussed here several times. HootanParsa has
done so much inventions over the years, maybe this one will come too. Until than
it's a good workaround to use your favorite theme and use two different skins
over it as @Spannaa said.
Yes, it's still a manual click but maybe the feature of automatically change
dark to light will be built in.
I like to have it all dark (black) all of the time, others want it light.
Not easy to fit everyone's desires.

You win post of the day (IMO)

I spent ten years turning light apps dark and then, Google pretty much disabled
theming, implemented their own take and cut themers out.

I'm still a Google user though - their dev offerings are very useful if they're
used 'outside the box'.

Good for you, but there are also many that like automatic switching. Don't have
to act like your opinion is the "correct" one

If it's too much work to implement then that's completely understandable, but
all this discussion is unnecessary.

That's fair, I found that pinning the two themes is a easy way to switch.

So I guess I'll use this method until hopefully we see this as a feature. It's
just a suggestion

I don't think anyone said your opinion doesn't matter.
I think the point here is this feature is not a priority atm but only the dev
really knows.

Apart from your initial posts on this topic in which you stated "after all these
years there is still this limitation" without acknowledging that there could be
other opinions, no one else has expressed their opinion as if it is the only
correct one. They simply made logical arguments for their preference without
dismissing your preference. In fact I specifically mentioned that I wasn't
dismissing your suggestion.

Whether or not it is too much work for the developer is indeed the developer's
decision but, discussions among MiXplorer's users about potential changes to the
resource footprint, behavior, and appearance of the app is well within range of
on-topic discussion and do inform app development. That is hardly unnecessary or
unhelpful, especially considering that your preference is among the preferences
which were voiced, and it too will inform development.

I successfully created a bookmark for a SMB path but I would like to have it (or
at least a link to it) in my home page. Really didn't get to manage that.

Furthermore, about bookmarks, is it a folder hidden somewhere? It would be very
useful to copy/path links from there.

Have you checked the FAQ thread? I think I remember talk about making a shortcut
on the home page.

I doubt that the bookmarks are in a folder somewhere. Could you explain how it
would be useful to have a link to this hypothetical folder?

If you are looking for a way to copy to the clipboard the path to the file you
are currently viewing, try looking at the "info" for the file. I think it
displays the path to the file as a "link" -- not really a link, it's just
displayed underlined like links in browsers, but I think if you tap on the link,
the path is copied to the clipboard.

I tried to check the FAQ at the Bookmarks section, but didn't find anything
similar.

My question is : whoever adds a SMB path then have to only get it through the
Bookmarks? Isn't it more useful handy in the home page or whatever one wants?

When I talk of a link to the bookmarked item(s) I just mean that, have a "copy"
of that bookmark (smb path) into a window such as the Home one

I tried to copy the path but you can't. You can just copy the Content URI, such
as content://com.mixplorer.file/10!2@10.147.17.6 but then how to use it

From Home screen > Add > Symlink > navigate to and sect bookmark then tap Select
> enter Name and tap Add.

Sounds like you might be spoiled by pre-Windows 10 start menus (as am I ). AFAIK
MiXplorer bookmarks are not in a user accessible folder.

As I don't use it (except for testing just now) MiX Home page is not documented
in the FAQ apart from individual user posts... but there are some of those
around to be found.

[EDIT] Correction: I use the home screen so infrequently that I forgot that
there is some documentation for it that is very easy to find in the FAQ if an
attempt to find it is made.

Yes, that is somewhat the point of Bookmarks: In most applications that use them
we open "Bookmarks" then go to the bookmark we want. We do have ways to present
them elsewhere such as in browser toolbars or the OS desktop or in this case the
MiXplorer Home screen, but that doesn't mean those are viable places through
which to manage all bookmarks, especially when there is an existing fairly
robust utility for doing that.

ROTFL, and there I was stating that there was no documentation as I bumbled
along without it ("Add" and "Symlink" just seems like logical choices). Thanks.

BTW, @gianmaxfactor, The documentation for Home is easy to find. Searching for
"Home" on the first webpage of the FAQ finds a link at the top of post 2, as as
well as in the body of that post, and again in the FAQ nugget index. Also, using
the XDA search engine or just browsing down the page into the second post would
have found it. So...if you can't find documentation for something after actually
trying to find it please do report that in the FAQ. Thank you.

ROTFL or not ROTFL I still state that the suggested FAQ doesn't fulfill what I
brought up.

Starting with a SMB server in the Bookmarks idoesn't look that easy to symlink
it to the home page. If it can ever be accomplished.

I will go through the whole FAQ-pages and possibly report the lack in the FAQ
itself.

You can go to drawer and click burger button, then export bookmarks and open
bookmarks.mic file with editor and copy paths.

That's a new property afaik, unless it was never documented. The default
behavior is lock the edition of colors when icons are multicolored by
commenting the string on properties file, otherwise might result in ugly
   results.

   Moderator Announcement

@washingleavesandthensome2 Please note the OP's request above. This is a
development thread! I assume slightly off topic is most likely fine if
accepted by the OP @HootanParsa, but keep it limited. If you have bugs,
report them to the developer with logs etc. and contribute to make the app
bug-free. If you don't want to contribute, use it as it is and say at least
thanks (Use the like button) to the dev who provided his work freely here on
   XDA.

I might be wrong: It doesn't look to me that you're reporting a bug but have
difficulties in handling this excellent app. And if my assumption is correct,
please don't use this development thread to get trained and educated but post
   in the connected Q&A thread:

I like the way HootanParsa uses the term "Skin Pallette". Maybe rebrand skins
to something like "Color scheme" or "pallette" would solve the problem of
people confusing them with complete themes.

Those who figured it out that filtering category lists is case-sensitive are
   the winners.
It only happens when you search for a specific extension in category lists.
   Try the new BETA.

Before unplugging the USB storage from your device (if it's modified), first
tap on Eject button and wait for some seconds until the system fix the
partition table if it needs to, otherwise it's possible you lose your files.
Some systems fix the partition during the file operations (Safe USB remove
feature), but some others in some cases will do it before unplugging the USB
device with Eject button. So be careful and if you have any complaint send it
to the developers of that operating system.

For new and old users of this app:
Already there is not a single known issue with any operation in any supported
   versions of Android.
So if you can reproduce any fail operation on a specific Android build,
please let me know with enough information to reproduce it.

One line statement like "I can't delete a file from my storage and here is
the related log" will be much more useful than writing some hundred lines of
   sad personal stories.
