The City of Bloomington's online system allows you to update your application and apply for jobs without re-entering application information. You may want to update your profile before applying for any new job applications. To update your profile, go to www.governmentjobs.com, click "Sign In" and login with your user ID and password. Click on "Profile" under your name located on the top right hand navigation bar. After updating each part of the application, you will be taken to a screen that tells you your information has been updated and/or completed. Note: The Chrome browser is most compatible with governmentjobs.com. Completing a new application * Part 1: Registration – This part includes general information about you as an applicant, password entry and job notification preferences. After registering, you will be given a user ID and password to use for updating application information and applying for additional jobs. Be sure to make note of your user ID and password. * Part 2: Applicant Profile – This section contains your employment background and qualifications that will be used to determine how well you match the job requirements. It is important that your application shows all the relevant education and experience you possess. Applications may be rejected if incomplete. It is beneficial to review and update your answers to the core questions for every opening to which you apply. * Part 3: Job-Specific Questions – Most online job announcements require you to answer questions related specifically to the position. If the job does not require job-specific questions, the system will take you directly to Part 4: Application Confirmation. * Part 4: Application Confirmation – When you have successfully completed the online application, you will be taken to a screen which reads, "Your application has been submitted." This confirms that your application has been submitted to the application database. After it is submitted, your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted if you are selected to move forward in the hiring process. Supplemental questionnaire tips Responses to the supplemental questionnaire, if required, are part of the application screening process. * Be specific when responding to questions. * Do not combine answers or use "see above" or "see resume." Information for full-time applicants Application information Completed application materials and Veteran’s Preference forms, when required, must be received in Human Resources by the closing date and time listed. Incomplete applications and applications received after the posted closing date will not be considered. Résumés and cover letters may be included with the application materials, but will not be accepted in lieu of a completed City application. Certain positions require a written examination. Exam date, time, and location are listed on the job announcement. When written examinations are given, all applicants are required to take the exam. If selection for this position requires you to appear for testing and you fail to comply, your application will not be considered.
