WELCOMING MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Welcome to the British Academy – a school offering the quality, rigour and
breadth of a British Independent School education in the heart of the
Montenegrin capital.

From the delivery of the world-renowned Cambridge Curriculum (all the way
through from 3 to 18) to the provision of outstanding co-curricular
opportunities for our pupils, the British Academy of Montenegro will equip
tomorrow’s leaders with the skills and experiences they need to live happy,
prosperous and international lives when they conclude their studies.

Pupils are taught by qualified, experienced teachers in beautiful, well adapted
environments that provide an atmosphere of safety, warmth and support. It’s a
place in which we want pupils to maximize their potential, to challenge
themselves in new endeavours and most of all, to simply be themselves.

While the following description gives a sense of the ethos and aims of the
school, there is no substitute f or experiencing it in reality and we would
encourage all prospective students to book a visit.

We very much look forward to welcoming you.

The British Academy is approved by the British Embassy Podgorica

ACADEMICS

THE CAMBRIDGE CURRICULUM

All academic studies, from the earliest years through to the end of a pupil’s
time at the British Academy, are delivered on the world-renowned Cambridge
Curriculum model. Its design is inclusive and built on the foundations of the
British approach with international elements designed to promote innovation,
creative thought and excellence.

Pupils in the pre-school learn on a play-centered model, enjoying beautiful and
secure surroundings, guided by committed, passionate staff as they encounter
phonics, literacy and numeracy gently but meaningfully for the first time.

When they reach primary age, pupils follow a more defined programme in English,
Mathematics and Science which focuses on solid understanding of core concepts
building excellent communication skills and nurturing independent, natural
intellectual curiosity through problem solving.

In the secondary phase – both lower and upper – pupils study discrete subjects
as they prepare for their Cambridge IGCSE examinations – rigorous tests of
knowledge, understanding and of academic maturity.

Beyond this, the International A Level programme, with its emphasis on
independence and applied knowledge, prepares pupils for university study either
in Montenegro or abroad.

There are more than 10,000 Cambridge schools in over 160 countries worldwide.
The British Academy is a part of that family.

PARTNERSHIP WITH OSWESTRY SCHOOL

THE BRITISH ACADEMY HAS SIGNED A COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH OSWESTRY SCHOOL.

Founded in 1407, it is one of the oldest non-denominational schools in the
country and stands on the edge of the attractive market town of Oswestry, in
Shropshire, on the border of England and Wales. The School is set in 50 acres of
its own grounds and boasts some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain on
its doorstep.

Historical it may be, with many traditional virtues encouraged, but Oswestry is
also a warm, caring and progressive school which constantly evolves with the
times.

There is more information about our partner school on Oswestry School Website.
