Jean C. Graves has been the public affairs officer for Bayne-Jones Army
Community Hospital (BJACH) at the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort
Johnson, Louisiana since November 2020. Upon arrival she quickly began
highlighting our organization and our people. Her stories are consistently
shared via Army Medicine Early Bird, the MEDCOM Newsletter, Medical Readiness
Command, West and by the Defense Health Agency. Shortly after her arrival she
signal handedly covered the Regional Health Command – Central Best Medic
competition and has proven to be a versatile writer, photographer, videographer
and social media manager. In 2022 she published 51 stories, 101 photos and 25
videos. During the same period, she increased the hospital’s social media
presence with an 183% increase in engagements since 2021. She has accomplished
all of this while simultaneously managing hospital publications and forms,
serving as the unit postal, protocol and FOIA officer. Prior to joining the
BJACH team she was a member of the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk
Garrison Public Affairs Office where she was responsible for coordination of
community outreach efforts. Graves is a U.S. Army Veteran and Military spouse
who has dedicated her professional life to serving the nation as a Soldier and
Department of the Army civilian employee. Her professional resume is as vast and
varied as her talents as a public affairs officer. During her civilian career
she has worked as a transition service specialist, education counselor, casualty
assistance trainer, garrison administrative officer, human resources (military)
supervisor, program operations assistant and a secretary. She holds a master’s
degree in public administration from Central Michigan University, a Bachelor of
Arts with a double major in history and sociology from the University of
Wisconsin and a graduate certificate in adult training and development from
Regis University, Denver, Colorado. She is DINFOS PAQC graduate, has attended
the Congressional Operations Seminar and is currently pursuing her Public
Relations Society of America (PRSA) – Military credentials. In 2022 she
completed Anti-Terrorism Level II, Operational Security Program Manager Course
and the Department of the Army Protocol Fundamentals course. Jean Graves truly
enjoys highlighting military service members and is always willing to learn new
things to remain relevant and up to date in the ever-changing field of
communication.
