ABOUT THIS EVENT

After its success in previous years, we’re bringing back ‘The Complete Guide to
Freelance Illustration’ the 2024 edition.
Harnessing our knowledge and experience as the world’s leading professional body
for illustrators, The AOI has a designed this 6 week online course to help
illustrators take proactive steps to progress in their careers. Each week you
will explore an essential aspect of freelance illustration, how to market
yourself, navigate licensing, contracts, finances, communicating with confidence
and understanding how to work with clients.
Each live interactive session will be hosted by a different industry
professional, who will be available to answer questions throughout and share
their expertise with you.
You will have the chance to engage with a supportive group of likeminded
illustrators, and there will be an optional opening and closing social to
connect with other illustrators on the course.
Whether you are just starting out in the illustration industry or feel as though
you have hit a wall, ‘The AOI’s Complete Guide to Freelance Illustration’ offers
you the tools you need to build a successful, sustainable illustration career.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can the sessions be booked individually?
No. The course is designed as a 6-session package, therefore payment is for the
whole course and it can't be split for individual weeks.
I'm based outside of the UK. Is this course for me?
If you are an illustrator working professionally or aiming to further
professionalise your practice, this course is for you. The course is delivered
online through Zoom. While some of the sessions are based on UK law and tax
codes, all content is relevant for international illustrators.
I want to take part but I will not be available for all sessions. Will there be
recordings?
The course is designed to be interactive, so we encourage all attendees to be
active participants in each session. If you can't attend in some weeks, we will
make a recording available for a limited time to give you a chance to catch up
before the next session.
Will I receive a qualification or certificate by the end of the course?
This is a highly structured course but no qualifications or certificates will be
given.
I'd like to take part but I'm currently financially limited. Do you offer any
discounts?
We want to be as inclusive as possible and not turn away participants for lack
of funds. If you are currently receiving Universal Credit, Jobseekers Allowance
or similar, e-mail us at info@theaoi.com to be considered for a discounted
place. Please note that we review each case individually.
