He studied under the 13th master Hayashi Kiemon. He is active mainly at the Kawamura Noh Stage in Kyoto. In addition to performing, he studied the history of Noh and completed his graduate studies at Doshisha University. He has served as a part-time lecturer at Kobe University, Kyoto City University of Arts Graduate School, Kyoto Koka Women's University, Kinki University, and visiting professor at Doshisha University. In 2005, he spent a month and a half in the United States and Canada as a cultural exchange ambassador for the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
