Best Weed Strains of 2025: Top Strains Reviewed Advantage BEST WEED STRAINS OF 2025: TOP STRAINS REVIEWED By Cathy Rozy December 12, 2024 As any cannabis aficionado will tell you, some strains are better for chilling, others for working, and still others to nip anxiety in the bud. Some strains will blast you to the moon, while others keep you more rooted in the Earth. It’s truly a wide-reaching spectrum. Choosing the best weed strains isn’t something that can be accomplished in a day. But thankfully, yours truly was willing to put in the time and effort to rate the cream of the crop. Rest assured, no stone—or seed—was left unturned. Ultimately (spoiler alert), every strain that made my top four list happened to be a hybrid. But hybrids themselves are a diverse bunch. Some strains are indica-leaning and great for anxiety, while the sativa-dominant hybrids are better known to boost productivity. If you want to know where to start with the best weed strains, just check out my list of the top 4 options as your guide. THE BEST WEED STRAINS IN 2025 Best Vibe: Super Runtz: Looper Super Runtz Pre-Rolls Best for Seed Cultivation Beginners: Gummibears: Seed Supreme Gummibears Autoflower Cannabis Seeds Best for Pain Relief: Cake Bomb: Homegrown Cannabis Co. Cake Bomb Feminized Cannabis Seeds Best for Anxiety Relief: Skywalker OG Kush: DNA Genetics Skywalker Kush Cannabis Seeds THE BEST THC PRODUCTS FROM THE WORLD’S BEST WEED STRAINS 1. BEST OVERALL: LOOPER SUPER RUNTZ PRE-ROLLS Strain: Super Runtz (hybrid) Vibe: Fun and carefree Flavor profile: Citrus, peppery, fruity Get ready to have fun like the good ol’ days. No mess, no stress, just two gram-filled blunts dipped in resin and rolled in crystals. This is a real treat for any cannabis lover that will send you to another galaxy for hours. However, you might not find yourself sunk into the couch. The vibe is very balanced, almost social, thanks to a blend that feels sativa-dominant but is actually an ever-so-slightly indica dominant strain of hybrid. This calm-yet-energetic strain is dubbed Super Runtz. It is a cross between the tasty hybrid Super Lemon Cherry Gelato and the famous Runtz 50/50 hybrid strain. These happy little blunts make great conversation starters and a shareable, fun vibe when entertaining. Overall, the Super Runtz strain offers one of the most balanced lifts on the hemp market. It’s an almost even hybrid split between sativa and indica, with just a little more indica in the mix. This keeps you productive and engaged while keeping anxiety at bay. Can’t recommend these enough for social occasions. Pros: * Fun cerebral effects with mood lift * Infused with THCa and coated with THCa live rosin * COA and lab test results available on website * Ongoing monthly discounts and deals Cons: * Does not ship to the following states: Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont. One such low-maintenance strain is the much-beloved Gummibears hybrid, known for its positive vibes and mellowing effects. Gummibears usually has an even split between indica and sativa, but the indica effects are more pronounced. Look forward to a delicious night’s rest. Also, remember that Gummibears has high THC levels, so don’t overdo it if you need to be productive during the day. Seed Supreme’s autoflowering Gummibears seeds are reliable, affordable, and backed by an awesome customer service team. If you have any questions about cultivating your new cannabis seeds, they’re always happy to help. These seeds are highly recommended by verified users online for both indoor and outdoor setups. Expect tall, healthy plants that aren’t as finicky about light. You (almost) can’t go wrong growing Gummibears. BEST FOR PAIN RELIEF: HOMEGROWN CANNABIS CO. CAKE BOMB FEMINIZED CANNABIS SEEDS Strain: Cake Bomb (indica-dominant hybrid) Vibe: Relaxed and relieved Flavor profile: Cedar with a little sweetness, earthy THC’s pain-busting effects are well-known, thanks to the anti-inflammatory effects it creates when binding with the endocannabinoid system. One of the best cannabis strains for pain relief is the indica-dominant hybrid called Cake Bomb. Its cedary-sweet taste and aroma are a pleasant treat. Pain relief and relaxation are the essence of the Cake Bomb experience, with high levels of THC potency in every delicious rip. At around 70% indica, you’ll have no problem chilling for the rest of the day. For your homegrow, Cake Bomb plants deliver huge bang for your buck, literally. The yield is high, and the plants grow to be quite large. That said, even though Cake Bomb is one of the more lush, robust cannabis strains, it’s a bit more sensitive than beginner-friendly cultivars. It does best under highly controlled environments, specifically with 40% to 50% humidity. It’s best suited for indoor setups unless you live in a Mediterranean climate (some microclimates in California qualify). Pros: * 29% THC content * Awesome customer service * Large plants with yields up to 28oz per plant * Relaxing pain relief effects Cons: * Difficult to grow outdoors; plants need support for the stems and branches Size: 2, 4, 8, or 12 feminized seeds Learn more about Homegrown Cannabis Co. Cake Bomb Feminized Cannabis Seeds 4. BEST FOR ANXIETY RELIEF: DNA GENETICS SKYWALKER KUSH CANNABIS SEEDS Strain: Skywalker OG Kush (hybrid) Vibe: Ready for anything Flavor profile: Citrus, piney Anxiety-prone stoners and diehard indica lovers around the world will mention Skywalker OG Kush among their favorite weed strains. Its balanced vibe makes it good for relatively any occasion, from socializing and studying to moderate exercising and sleeping. Whatever you want to do, you can do it with Skywalker OG Kush. Skywalker OG Kush thrives in humid environments and will do well outdoors in certain areas of Florida, Texas, and Louisiana. However, hydroponic setups require more skill and attention to detail. Skywalker’s aromatic compounds are pleasant and easy on the lungs. Although potent and heavy on the indica side, the cerebral effects produce a feeling of clarity and ease. All in all, Skywalker OG Kush is a must for anyone who wants the ultimate anti-anxiety relief. It’s highly versatile and enhances any situation you find yourself in. A little goes a long way with this reliable weed strain you’ll love coming back to again and again. After all, the decision is mostly subjective, with different people preferring different weed strains based on how they make them feel. This list also certainly contains a high level of subjectivity; as the author, I draw on my individual experience with each of these strains and products. Cannabinoids affect people differently, and what has worked for me may not work for you. Your age, weight, metabolism, genetics, dosage, and more all play a part in how a person responds to THC and other therapeutic cannabinoids. At the end of the day, the best weed strains that will appeal to most users are hybrid strains with prominent indica and sativa qualities. For that reason, I first limited my search to hybrid strains. From there, I drew on my experience with different strains and tried some new ones, while also reading verified user reviews to see how other people were experiencing them. When these aligned and I found a clean product with good value, they were considered for the top 10. I then narrowed it down to just 4 strain-specific THC products based on the best vibe, quality, and value for your dollar. At the end of the day, the list is all hybrid strains, most of which are indica-dominant because that’s my vibe. I use cannabis for its relaxing, anti-anxiety properties, but at the same time don’t want to feel like I’m dragging. This list reflects a perspective of wanting a relaxing body high without the heavy sedation of an indica. HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT WEED STRAINS FOR YOU To reiterate, cannabis sativa affects people differently. Whereas a particular strain might put one person to sleep, it could invigorate another person or cause paranoia in another. Ultimately, you aren’t going to know you’ve found the best weed strains for you until you try them. But before you go out on your quest, it’s helpful to ask yourself the following questions? WHAT EFFECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR? Sativa strains have more energetic, uplifting effects and are beloved by creatives, musicians, and people working long hours. However, sativa strains can cause paranoia in more anxiety-prone people and newer cannabis users. Indica strains are more sedative, with more powerful pain-relieving properties and anti-anxiety effects. The major downside is that indica strains can put you to sleep or keep you glued to the couch if you’re not careful. Hybrid strains combine the best of both worlds. 50/50 hybrids like Gummibears offer buzzy cerebral effects along with pain and anxiety relief, but they don’t go too far in either direction. Indica-dominant hybrids are especially ideal for anxiety, while sativa-dominant hybrids are known for their creative, productive vibe. Decide how you want to feel on the indica-to-sativa scale, and when in doubt, go with a hybrid for a balanced experience. If you’re looking for the best weed strains for anxiety, choose a genetic profile with high amounts of CBD and/or CBG. WHAT KIND OF POTENCY LEVEL DO YOU WANT? Different cannabis strains have different levels of delta-9 THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. Depending on your preference, you can get low-THC, mid-grade, and high-THC potency measured as a percentage of the overall cannabinoid composition. If you want a less-psychoactive experience with more anti-anxiety effects, some of the best weed strains available today have high levels of CBD and/or CBG. Both these cannabinoids have well-documented therapeutic benefits and have thus been incorporated genetically into popular cannabis strains. When you’re evaluating potency, look for the cannabinoid THCa. Upon decarboxylation, this converts into delta 9 THC, increasing the overall potency of the effects. The presence of additional psychoactive cannabinoids like THCp, delta 8 THC, and delta 10 THC will also cause more potent effects. HOW DO YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE WEED STRAINS? Choose how you want to take your cannabis. You can buy marijuana seeds, grow the plants yourself, and then smoke the dried flower or bake it into recipes. You can also use oil or alcohol to extract the natural plant oils. If you want a more ready-for-use method, you may want to choose dried flower or, better yet, pre-rolls that you simply light when you’re ready to blaze. You can also get cannabis tinctures or a disposable weed pen for vaping that’s easier on the lungs. WHAT ARE THE LEGAL IMPLICATIONS? You may have limitations as to which kind of cannabis strains you can legally enjoy, depending on where you live. Products containing the best weed strains that contain 0.3% or less delta 9 THC by dry weight are considered federally legal. However, various states have banned certain psychoactive hemp products, and others may not permit residential cultivation of psychoactive cannabis strains. In states where recreational marijuana is outlawed, you may have the option to get delta 8 flower and other strains from THCa flower distributors. These both have psychoactive effects akin to recreational weed but are federally legal at this point. Find out more about your local laws on cannabis before you buy your favorite weed strains online. Be advised, no legit cannabis brand or seed bank would ever ship to an area where legality was in question. POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF THC WEED STRAINS Cannabis strains that have high levels of THC may offer users a litany of therapeutic benefits that have been well-documented in scientific studies and clinical trials. Here are the potential health conditions for which THC may potentially provide a solution: Pain & inflammation: THC is a natural anti-inflammatory that provides pain relief based on numerous studies that document its therapeutic potential for chronic pain, neuropathic pain, and more. Nausea: Cannabis is often prescribed in states where medicinal marijuana is legal for chemotherapy patients for its ability to relieve nausea and vomiting as well as to stimulate appetite. Epilepsy - Studies and countless testimonials from around the world have documented that cannabis can give people with epilepsy a new lease on life due to the antispasmodic effects of THC and other hemp cannabinoids. Anxiety - THC has been documented to help alleviate anxiety, but only in smaller doses. Larger doses of THC can actually trigger paranoia and panic. That’s why some of the best strains of weed for anxiety are high in CBD and CBG and low in THC percentage. Sleep health - Cannabis has proven an effective plant medicine for insomnia and other sleep disorders in various studies and helps regulate the body’s natural circadian rhythm. POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS OF CANNABIS USE Using weed strains with high THC content can potentially cause side effects, including cognitive impairment, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, increased appetite, driving impairment, red eyes, dry mouth, and paranoia. Consult with your doctor before beginning any new health regimen. FAQS WHAT WEED STRAINS ARE BEST FOR ANXIETY? Individuals react to cannabinoids differently, but most people gravitate toward indicas and indica-dominant hybrids like Skywalker OG Kush to alleviate anxiety. Strains lower in THC and higher in supporting cannabinoids CBD, and CBG are considered more effective for anxiety than super-high THC strains. WHAT WEED STRAINS ARE BEST FOR PRODUCTIVITY? Sativas like Sour Diesel and sativa-leaning hybrids like Pineapple Express are better suited for daytime productivity, working, and creativity than indicas, which have more pronounced sedative effects. WHAT WEED STRAINS ARE BEST FOR SLEEP? High THC strains, particularly indicas like Watermelon, deliver the most physically and mentally relaxing vibes that are perfect for nighttime use. In fact, THC has been successfully used as a natural treatment option for insomnia in scientific studies. FINAL VERDICT: YOU JUST CAN’T GO WRONG WITH HYBRIDS. In conclusion, you can’t go wrong with hybrids, which is why they’re considered the best weed strains at the end of the day. Hybrids give you a more well-rounded experience of cannabis as a plant medicine, which you can adjust based on preference by going with either sativa- or indica-dominant options. Hybrid weed strains deliver the soothing, anti-inflammatory properties of indicas along with the cerebral stimulation of sativas beloved by artists, innovators, late-night warriors, and mindfulness practitioners. In stoner lore, hybrids have long served as the pathway to the best of both worlds. The best weed strains on this list are all hybrids with their own unique characteristics. Remember that the legality of THC and other psychedelic plant medicines varies from state to state. And importantly, you should always consult a healthcare professional before beginning a new health regimen, particularly if you have underlying conditions or take medication.
