09/20/24 Full Review Audience Member I watched episode 1. It’s beautifully shot,
Colin Farrell & Milotti are fun to watch, but if we strip the costume design
away, what exactly are we watching? The writing/plot seems to be stealing life
from these characters. Am I supposed to believe that a man who runs a drug
operation that generates millions per month, connections to all the highest
political power in Gotham is now reliant on a kid he just met to save him?
Penguin is planned and very calculated in how he planted the ring and handled
Falcone’s son’s body. You’re telling me he didn’t also organize the right people
to prepare for Miloti’s character to interrogate him? He’s anticipating it.
Drives to his Mother’s house and is even looking to hide. We are choosing to
make a Batman movie continuation series with NO VILLAIN and NO BATMAN! If this
is truly a character grounded story, why not make it a prequel; a true origin
story of Oz? We all loved him from the movie and we all decided he’s interesting
enough to learn more about, without furthering the actions of his current
character. As a huge Batman fan, this is clearly bothering me. In my bothered
state, I decided to further explore the writers past work and see if my eyeballs
are serving me correctly. In no shock to me, the writer’s resume is paper thin.
2010-2012 (13 episodes of Chuck), 2013-2016 (7 episodes of Agents of Shield),
2018-2019 (6 episodes of Impulse). Lauren Lefranc (the writer) does not seem
qualified to write this series. So why is she being appointed the role? This is
not a regular, smegular run-of-the-mill show that should be given to just
anyone. The Batman world is on par with the all-time classic franchises like
Star Wars, Marvel and so on and deserves the best of the best. It’s not fair to
the fans of the franchise and it’s not fair to Lauren to put her in this

episode 1 only. It is exactly what I want from such a story: a realistic
portrayal of that world with recognizable elements of the Batman stories without
delving into silliness. This world seems possible. The performances and story
are engaging, with a sense of building tension through the episode. The main
character, Oz is horrible but you can see his humanity. The young character Vic
is clearly the stand in for the audience: out of his element, and shocked at
what is happening. Sofia is a force that will grow as the season progresses. A
