HOW TO GET HERE

Although there’s no shortcut to get to Montserrat, it’s actually pretty easy.
Both airline and ferry service depart from our closest neighbour, Antigua.
Choose a flight from your city to Antigua, and then book a 20-minute flight from
there to Montserrat. Alternatively, as a less expensive option, you may book the
ferry: at minimum, a 90-minute ride. No shortcut, but no regrets either.

POPULAR TOURS & EXPERIENCES

RENDEZVOUS BEACH PICNIC OR PARTY

Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the island’s only white sandy beach with a
nice picnic basket filled with local goodies. Or make a truly magical memory and
have a day tailored to suit your desires!

HIKE TO THE PETROGLYPHS

The most amazing thing happened in 2016. Hikers on the Soldier Ghaut Trail
discovered Petroglyphs credited to the first known people on Montserrat, the
Amerindians. These markings in the rock are thought by archaeologists to be
between 1000 and 1500 years old. They are a must see!

BURIED CITY TOUR

Montserrat’s most popular tour takes you to the island’s capital, Plymouth,
which is like a city frozen in time. Although many of the buildings have been
buried by ash and mud flows from the volcanic eruption in 1995 and 1996, some
rooftops and other structures remain visible and stories abound. This tour is
available only with a certified tour guide

SOUFRIERE HILLS VOLCANO BOAT TOUR

By far the most popular water-based tour in Montserrat! Take an exhilarating
cruise along the west coast from Little Bay all the way to the Buried City of
Plymouth – the modern day Pompeii. Learn about how the island was created and
about Montserrat’s natural history. You will experience amazing views and
discover up close how the island is actually growing!

RUNAWAY GHAUT

Montserrat has some of the purest water you can hope to find anywhere. Make a
stop at Runaway Ghaut and take a drink of the natural spring water to form that
unbroken bond with the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean. Rent a car or ask your
taxi driver to make sure you get to live the legend.

HILLTOP COFFEE HOUSE & WELCOME CENTRE

DAY OF DISCOVERY

This tour lasts 6-7 hours, and it is a fabulous way to visit Montserrat for a
day or to begin your holiday. In addition to the regular guided tour, your guide
will show you other points of interest at your request. The tour includes
admission to the Montserrat Volcano Observatory and the National Museum,
complimentary drinks and door to door service from your accommodations.

 *   Sun is a fabulous guide. His knowledge of the island, it’s history, it’s
people and the volcanic eruptions is fascinating. He couldn’t have given us a
better experience. His love... read more and passion for the island made this
a very personal tour. We were so glad to have met him and gained an
incredible insight into Montserrat through his eyes.

 *   I had a trip with Sun in October during my short stay in Montserrat. Sun is
definitely the total expert in montserrat, if you have anything to ask, he
will... read more get you the answer. Whether you are on vacation like me, or
you are a geologist or a historian, he can get the accustomed tour based on
   your needs and interests.

The experience is more like traveling with an ‘unmet but old friend’ than a
stereotypical tour. We talked a lot about the Beatles, about forgotten Irish
links to the island, life on the island and more. Before I didn’t know that
the Beatles had some summer stories on the island. He has an old durable
lovely minivan that will take you anywhere on the island, which he named
   ‘time machine’.

It was amazing, Montserrat is like an ideal place I've seen in movies that
depicted an old fashioned town where people valued hospitality. Sun’s tour
definitely showed me the bright side of Montserrat, the told and untold
history, the beauteous sceneries, and the unique culture.

We met in the morning, and we went to almost every spot in Montserrat, where
   a car can go.
After all, Montserrat is small enough to explore in one day. Although my trip
was a regular day tour, without the selectable plymouth extension, Sun did
fulfill the day. Because of Tammy the storm, we left one spot blank where the
path road was scrapped by nature, but Sun chose to take me to another spot
near telecom relay on top of a hill, which was a brilliant substitute. I had
a lot of good photos taken there. Also we went to the top hill museum, where
I watched a film documented by Sun’s father, about stories between plymouth
volcano and people back in time.

I will likely revisit Montserrat next year, and I definitely will choose Sun
   again.

 *   Sun is a lively, engaging and knowledgeable tour guide. My husband and I
had a great time on our Day of Discovery tour plus a visit to Plymouth. Sun's
tours... read more are highly personal - he is happy to be flexible based on
what you want to do, and he doesn't take large groups. He made us feel more
like friends than tourists. We would highly recommend a trip with Sun's
   Montserrat Island Tours.

 *   Sun is the best guide one could ask for this type of tour. Having he been
raised in Plymouth (the buried capital after the volcano explosion) he is
able to... read more explain with details what it used to every single
building that is mow partially covered by ashes. He can relate his own
personal experience and identify what once used to be a very thriving
Caribbean capital. Furthermore, if you are a Beatles, Police, Rolling Stones
fan you would be glad to know that his family helped built the museum-bar
Hilltop Cafe near Gingerbread Hill. Beyond that, Sum has lived all his life
in Montserrat so he knows the hidden spots and best places to eat and have
   drink. Highly recommended.

 *   We can only reiterate what others have already said: Sun's tour is a
comprhensive introduction to Montserrat, present and historically, and well
worth doing even if you plan to explore... read more further (or again) on
your own. As passengers you have the full benefit of “gazing around” while
Sun navigates the twists and turns on the narrow, steep roads with aplomb
while also keeping up a running commentary with good cheer and humorous
anecdotes. Sun is very accommodating; willing to linger (or skip) where you
wish rather than keeping to a rigid schedule - except where that schedule
includes Plymouth (the exclusion zone) and coordination with others is
required for that timing. While he is a most personable guide, he cannot add
hours to his day long tour so if you choose to spend a lot of time in one
area, or, as we did, ask for a “quick look” at something not really part of
the tour, you may find you have less time for some other fascinating stop. A
characteristic of a good guide that Sun demonstrates is his patience in
answering so many questions that he has probably answered mutitudinous times
before. His willingness to answer questions had us commenting, even after the
tour, “I wish I had thought to ask Sun about that”. If, besides seeing the
sites and sights, you want to be informed, we highly recommend Sun’s
   Montserrat Island Tours.
