FLOOD RESOURCES

For information on shelters and disaster response, call 2-1-1. You can also
visit https://vermont211.org/ for information and live updates on shelters if
you cannot call.

According to Vermont Public and the Red Cross, here is what you should bring to
an emergency shelter:

 * Prescription and emergency medications

 * Foods that meet special dietary requirements

 * Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, and other comfort items

 * Chargers for any electronic devices

 * Books, games, and other forms of entertainment

If you or anyone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, text HOME to
741741 or visit https://www.crisistextline.org/.

For up-to-date information about road closures, visit
https://newengland511.org/.

If you or anyone in your community needs access to translated information, they
can visit the Vermont Department of Health website, which has 12 different
languages that are available.

Flood Safety Tips (via VT Department of Public Safety)

 * If rising water is approaching, leave.

 * Evacuate over high ground and plan that route now for this weekend and any
   time there may be flooding.

 * Never drive or walk through floodwaters. Strong currents or unseen washouts
can sweep you and your car away.

 * Turn off the circuit breaker in your home before you evacuate – if you can do
   so safely.

 * Have a licensed electrician inspect your electrical system before you once
again occupy your home if it has been flooded.

 * If you are in a flood-prone area, or if you believe your home will be
flooded, it is advisable to move valuables from your basement in case water
   enters your home.

 * Check your insurance coverage now, and then contact your insurance company if
   you have damage.

VERMONT DEMOCRATS HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF LEADING THE WAY.

We've led the movements for marriage equality, health care for all, quality
public education, and bold action on climate change. While other states in New
England have seen their legislatures flip to Republican control, Vermont remains
known as one of the most progressive states in the country. Vermont Democrats
made that happen, and I couldn't be more proud to be your Vermont Democratic
Party Chair.

Our success is due to the hard work of volunteers, activists, staff, and
candidates. I am excited to be working with Democrats throughout Vermont to
ensure a vibrant, diverse Vermont Democratic Party that elects winning
candidates up and down the ballot.

The 2024 election is going to be a very important one, and we know it's going to
take every single one of us to protect our democracy and keep our state and
country blue – from Addison to Worcester and everywhere in between. Please join
us as we work to help our state heal from Covid-19, embrace our strengths, and
build back a better Vermont that works for everyone.

David Glidden

Chair, Vermont Democratic Party
