THEATRICAL BIOMECHANICS

4-DAY INTERNATIONAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY WORKSHOP

8-11 January 2024

Berlin - Germany

The international program is designed for performers, directors, choreographers,
and performing arts practitioners who are interested in the practical
investigation of theatre biomechanics and physical theatre. The focus of the
training: What makes performance interesting? How can we be more engaging on
stage?

Early Bird Fee: 150 EUR
(until September 15, 2023)

After: 200 EUR

Apply Now

What to do when you have zero inspiration? How to tell a story in a more
interesting way? How does a performer enter a stage? How does a performer
grab/take focus? How does a performer warm up their body from head to toe?

Welcome to our upcoming workshop dedicated to enriching your performance
vocabulary and reinforcing your understanding of familiar performance concepts
through theatrical biomechanics. This immersive experience will not only
introduce you to new terminology but also empower you with innovative techniques
for rehearsing and engaging in creative play. Our ultimate goal is to provide
you with practical tools for working on stage and fostering seamless
communication among performers, choreographers, and directors.

The program is designed for actors of physical theatre, dancers, contemporary
circus performers, choreographers, and directors – performing arts practitioners
with professional stage experience working in various genres, techniques, and
styles who are interested in finding new international networking opportunities
and collaborators.

4-day workshop highlights:

 1. Strengthening Body and Stage Awareness:
We will be able to focus on enhancing your strength, balance, and
flexibility. These fundamental elements will serve as the foundation for
improving your stage presence and awareness.

 2. Mastering Stage Entrance and Exit:
Learn the art of entering and exiting a stage with precision and intention.
Our workshop will be able to provide you with valuable insights and
techniques to captivate your audience from the moment you step onto the
    stage until your final exit.

 3. Unveiling the Power of Status:
Discover the intriguing concept of status and its impact on stage
performance. You will be able to explore how different levels of status can
influence interactions and narratives, allowing you to create captivating
    and dynamic characters.

 4. Engaging with Boredom and Interest:
Delve into the realm of onstage dynamics by experimenting with what captures
and sustains audience interest, as well as how to transform potentially
mundane moments into engaging ones. Our workshop will be able to empower you
to navigate the balance between the dull and the captivating.

 5. Hands-On Practice:
Immerse yourself in a series of interactive exercises and short clown acts
designed to put your newfound skills into action. These practical sessions
will be able to reinforce the concepts covered and provide you with a
supportive environment to refine your abilities.

Participant Requirements: A healthy physique, a creative mind, and a playful
spirit :)
