PS5 DUALSENSE EDGE RELEASE DATE, PRICE AND FEATURES - WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

The PlayStation 5 is coming up on its second anniversary since its release, but
some gamers still have issues obtaining the console due to supply chain issues
(per Eurogamer). Adding insult to injury, those patiently waiting for a PS5
restock recently learned that the console got more expensive in some regions.

Still, those who own a PS5 have enjoyed critically-adored exclusives
like "Demon's Souls" and "The Last of Us Part 1." But now, PlayStation is giving
gamers a new way to enjoy their favorite games. In August, PlayStation
announced that an upgraded DualSense controller called the DualSense Edge would
be coming soon.

The DualSense Edge is a wireless controller that prioritizes customizability
while retaining the features and feel of the original DualSense controller. Now,
the controller has finally received a release date and price, and gamers will
need to move fast to secure their controller as pre-orders begin very soon. 

Here's what players can expect from the DualSense Edge, what it will cost them,
and when they can get their hands on the high-end PlayStation 5 controller.

RELEASE DATE AND PRICE

According to a recent PlayStation blog post, the DualSense Edge will launch
globally on January 26. But gamers can lock in their pre-order for the
controller as early as Tuesday, October 25, at select retailers or directly from
PlayStation. The controller will retail for $199.99. Of course, gamers will have
to decide whether 200 dollars is worth it for a controller, but the controller
brings some goodies that may make the price easier to stomach for some.
Additionally, the DualSense Edge offers PlayStation 5 owners a comparable option
to Xbox player's Elite Series 2 controller.

As described by PlayStation's post, the DualSense Edge comes bundled with a
carrying case and includes other extras such as:

 * A USB braided cable
 * 2 Standard caps
 * 2 High dome caps
 * 2 Low dome caps
 * 2 Half dome back buttons
 * 2 Lever back buttons
 * Connector housing

Players can also purchase replaceable stick modules for the controller at launch
for $19.99.


DUALSENSE FEATURES

On top of the DualSenese Edge bringing all the standard DualSense features, such
as haptic feedback and dynamic triggers, the new controller also offers new
customization options. For example, the DualSense Edge allows players to replace
multiple controller parts, such as the stick modules and caps. Gamers can also
manually adjust the DualSense Edge's trigger lengths via a lever on the back. In
addition, the controller offers two mappable back buttons on the rear, allowing
for more customizable inputs. Finally, the DualSense Edge has a lockable
connector housing for the USB cable, so it doesn't come out during gameplay.

And because the DualSense Edge prioritizes customization, the device offers an
on-controller user interface that allows players to change their controller
preset on the fly. In addition, the menu will enable users to adjust the game
and chat audio balance manually or quickly switch to a different audio preset.
These features make the DualSense Edge perfect for those that want a controller
that feels tailor-made and infinitely customizable.
