protection strategies







Korea Copyright Protection Agency , “2024 Copyright Protection Future Forum ”
held







The Korea Copyright Protection Agency ( President Park Jeong-ryeol , hereinafter
referred to as the Korea Copyright Protection Agency ) will hold the 1st '20 24
Copyright Protection Future Forum ' at the Seoul Global Center International
Conference Hall on February 28 .

 

Thanks to the global popularity of K- content , the export volume of the
K-content industry reached an all-time high of $ 13.24 billion in 2022 , growing
into a core industry driving the growth and exports of the Korean economy . In
order to continue this growth, strong copyright protection is essential .
However, due to major changes in technological aspects in the digitalized era,
limitations are emerging that are difficult to respond to with the existing
copyright protection system . The '2024 Copyright Protection Future Forum ' was
created to discuss strategic plans for copyright protection with opinion leaders
in the copyright field .

 

To this end, since November 2023 , the Protection Agency has launched the '
Future Forum Promotion Team ' , composed of 6 experts, and has been determining
the main agenda and direction of the forum . The first topic of the '2024
Copyright Protection Future Forum ' is ' Copyright Protection Strategy for the
Development of the K- Content Industry Following the Digital Transformation ' .

 

In this forum, Kim Byeong-il, Chairman of the Korea Digital Intellectual
Property Law Society, and Lee Seong-yeop, Chairman of the Korea Data Law Policy
Association, were appointed as co-chairs, and 23 experts from various fields
including industry , technology , academia , and the legal profession will
participate as forum members to lead discussions from various perspectives. Is
expected .

 

Professor Kim Byeong-il of Hanyang University, who chaired the forum , gave a
presentation on ' Copyright protection measures according to changes in
technology and environment ' , and Professor Hong Ji-man of Soongsil University
gave a presentation on ' Information science technology development and
copyright protection issues ' , followed by a comprehensive discussion. do .

 

Park Jeong-ryeol, director of the Korea Protection Agency, said, “ In the era of
great digital transformation, the framework of thinking about copyright
protection must also change . “ At a time when new perspectives and approaches
are needed , we are pleased to provide an opportunity to explore current issues
with experts .” “ We look forward to in-depth discussions on current copyright
protection issues through future forums .” He said .

 

The 2nd Copyright Protection Future Forum is scheduled for April , and starting
with this forum , a total of 5 sessions will be held until the end of this year
. The Korean Protection Agency plans to hold the ' Copyright Protection Future
Forum ' every year , and plans to conduct follow-up research on the content
discussed at the forum and use it as basic data for policy implementation .
