Badminton Time is such a fun game, perfect for solo play or getting the family
involved! The environments are colorful and easy on the eyes, and the gameplay
feels super smooth and immersive. I love that you can fully customize your
avatar, and the mini-games are such a fun way to sharpen your skills. This is
definitely a VR game I’ll keep coming back to!

The Link is a game from a very small indie developer, but the idea is so unique!
You get thrown into mazes with invisible walls. Your job is to find the end of
the room, and you can only know the way by spray painting the walls The game is
a little creepy, you'll sometimes encounter red substances and you have to make
sure to avoid those since they're dangerous. You will also hear very creepy
voices in the distances and some weird stuff can happen. Make sure to bring a
few pairs of trousers. The single indie developer has also added a little bit of
a backstory to it. You start in some kind of laboratory, and the people over
there are kind of studying the red anomaly, and looks like they've found a way
to control them. Very unsettling. This also acts as a hub and you are presented
with a board that contains all of the levels that you can do. I have a good
sense of direction, but you can definitely get lost easily in there, I find that
the developer has done a good job with the level design since he's really good
at finding ways to trick you. Pick the game up! It's super cheap.

I was pretty excited to get my hands on this game since we started seeing some
pretty cool footage from the content creators who were able to try the game
during the Home of XR and were pretty enthusiastic about it. I was able to get
my hands on it pre-release and after playing around four and a half hours, I
came out of it with a little bit of disappointment. I'm sure that you're curious
into why I feel like this since this is such an innovative Mixed Reality idea,
so lets get right into it! Wall Town Wonders came out on November 21st 2024 for
$19.99 and is available for the Meta Quest 3 and 3S. The developers of the game
are Cyborn, who are well known for their award winning game Hubris! It's not a
game that I had a chance to try yet, but I know that this sci-fi action
adventure game had a lot of praise. Alright onto Wall Town Wonders now. Gameplay
So the idea of the game is super cool and unique. Your main goal is to build a
town on your actual wall. Every time that I was turning on the headset and saw
all of these buildings on the wall, it was pretty awesome. To upgrade or build
more buildings, you have to basically gather resources. The buildings will
mostly require wood, bricks and metal to be able to be made. The main way to
gather these materials is by going into mine expeditions. When you go in these,
your town will disappear, and then you'll get into a cave that you have to
explore with your miner. You can only do these expeditions once a day in real
time, but as you keep playing, you get more way to gain these resources. You'll
obtain buildings that will automatically generate those resources in real time.
So you can gather them as they appear, or you can take a break from your
headset, and then when you come back, you'll have a good chunk of resources to
gather. There's also other minigames that you can play that will help you gain
resources faster. Another really important resource is the food! You'll need it
mostly to go in expeditions with your lizard to find more mines if you don't
feel like waiting for a day. You can gather food by growing your farm, or by
doing some fishing. Last resource that you have are stars. You gather them just
by playing the game or trying some mini games, it's kind of like experience
point. You can use them to buy different new cosmetics for your townpeople or
your buildings. But later in the game, some building upgrade may require them.
Game Flow That's pretty much the whole concept of the game! You gather resources
to build more buildings to gain more townspeople and so on and so forth. Going
in, this is what I was expecting for sure. The thing though, is that I was
looking for something relaxing, something to lose my mind in a peaceful and
mindless setup, but as I kept playing, it felt more like a chore simulator than
a relaxing crafting world for me personally. The game starts strong, since
you're greeted with some nice silly cutscenes and you get introduced to a lot of
new characters. While you're learning how to play, and you get to build a lot of
new things and discover some nice things to do. But I'd say at around one and a
half hour, you get to a point where you're in a loop to gather more resources to
make more buildings, and that loop just don't seems to end. The loop is as
followed: the core thing that you need are resources to craft buildings. The
first thing that you need is food, and your farm doesn't grow fast enough, so
you need to go fish a few times. Then you need to go on an expedition with your
lizard using the food to find a mine. Then you mine your resources. Then you
have to do it all over again. As you keep going, there's a little bit more
variety of things that you can do, but it doesn't add to the fun factor after
doing it a few times. You just end up with the same goal throughout the game.
After upgrading my townhall to tier 5, and noticing that it didn't add up to any
new variety, I've simply decided that I was done and couldn't bare the idea that
I just needed to grind again with no new added mechanic. Also, every time that
you have to start something, the townperson will have the same dialogue and I
wish that I could just skip it, it doesn't add anything new. There's 2 things
that I can think that could've helped in making this game better: The first
quick and easy one would be to introduce a trading store where you can simply
trade one of your resource to something else. There were many times where my
bricks where maxed out, but I had no wood at all. It was annoying going to the
mine grinding wood while I was wasting the brick resources. The second thing is
that I feel like there's something missing to break the ice. Like, I wish that
there would be some events in the game that would stop you from doing your work
for resources. There are some minigames in there like a flying a plane going
through hoops to get experience, but there's not enough for me to keep doing it
since it's extremely optional. It'd be nice to have things such as needing to
complete these minigames to unlock buildings that you have to build, or things
like that. Graphics Something that I've heard during some Home of XR footage is
people telling how great the characters looked up close. That instantly reminded
me of Demeo where the game looks gorgeous when you zoom in the board. I did not
get this feeling with the game sadly. The thing is that it's using dynamic
resolution rendering, and for some reason, when I record my gameplay, the game
thinks that I'm using a lot of resources and it needs to lower down the
resolution to the max. So when I go close to the characters, it just looks very
blurry from the headset. This is not an issue when you're not recording, but it
personally affected my enjoyment. No other games I've played that lower down the
resolution THAT much when recording. The game also felt pretty janky. Many times
there would be a frame skipping or a lag that would be noticeable when I move
around. Since this is Mixed Reality, it really breaks the immersion when it
happens, and it's a little hard on the eyes. Bugs/Issues So I did encounter some
annoying bugs in the game. Some even that prevented me from completing a
minigame, but it didn't stop me from progressing at least. Something to note is
that the developers are aware of the bugs, and there should be a patch fixing
most of this in the next few days, so keep a lookout. The first bug I've
encountered is a minigame with a lizard where I have to search for berry seeds
to grow in my farm. The lizard tells me where the seed is to dig, but he never
actually dig it out. So I was never able to grow this kind of food. Second bug
is when I do the airplane minigame, the rings that I have to go in goes behind
my furniture for some reason even though it's in front. The air lines following
the plane and the indicator for the plane to follow also goes behind it. Third
bug is there is some money that I can't gather in my town. You need to just
touch the resource to obtain it, but there are just some that doesn't pick up.
Last bug is during an air balloon minigame, there's a specific dropzone that I
just can't drop any crates on. It just goes straight through it. So guys this is
mostly what I had to say about the game. Very promising at first, but my journey
through it ended up in frustration at the end. There's a patch coming soon that
could fix all of this, but I'm here to give you guys the experience that I have
right now, and personally, I probably won't be touching it again due to my
impression of it. And it's not as if I didn't try, I did play 4 and a half hours
of it, but it's just not for me. I do hope that the game improves and does well
in the long run because it is definitely a cool concept.

This is a great game for any age. This game is based on the card game of the
same name. The game has a few different modes and they are all easy to pick up
and once you do you are flying. You can play with friends or random people
online you can even add bots. It's a turn based game where the aim is to steal
items from your opponents and make sure they pick the bomb not you. Really fun
and each round can go very differently.

This is a pretty fun game. Considering this was a mobile game it ported to VR
really well. It's so simple yet so addictive. Not as polished as some of the
other archery games I have played on quest but let me tell you it's just as
addictive. It's colourful, vibrant and easy to pick up. The game offers multiple
difficulty options and the ability to earn stars and unlock new bows and ammo
types. Fun for any age.

I can explain this game in one word: unique! This is a good thing when it comes
to VR. There are so many of the same types of games and it can get repetitive
and boring quick. But Metal Hellsinger is far from boring. The gameplay is
smooth and the soundtrack is awesome! There were times where I was a little
confused on the rhythm based combat and am still trying to get used to it. This
is the main reason for the 4 star rating, the learning curve feels steep. For
the majority of my gameplay, I felt a little confused but after playing a little
longer I am starting to get the hang of it! This is a game that I recommend to
anyone that likes music and fighting… I think that’s about everyone 🤣

Guys, we are finally at around the end of the year with some very much
anticipated big titles coming out, and I'm happy to cover one that I consider my
game of the year so far. Today we're doing a review of the Meta Quest version of
Metro Awakening and, my gosh, I have so many good things to say about this game.
So let's dig into the horrors inside the latest entry of the Metro series. Metro
Awakening came out on November 4th and is available on Meta Quest, PSVR2 and
PCVR for $65.99 Canadian. The game is compatible with the Quest 2, Pro, 3 and 3S
and the developers of the game are none other that Vertigo Games. Very well
known for games such as Arizona Sunshine 1 and 2, after the fall and the 7th
guest. So let's see how this one compares to their previous titles. Story You
are in the shoes of a doctor named Serdar and I believe that the game is
happening at around 2028, which is a few years before the main events of the
first game in the series, Metro 2033. After experiencing some devastating events
that happened in the past, you are called by Max, the person that is the chief
in command of the outpost who is really frustrated. It seems that Yana, your
wife, has made some pretty big damage to the mushroom facility, and this is due
to hearing her death child through the pipes. As a doctor, you did give her some
medication to help with her illness, but she decided to throw them away. So your
first task at the start of your campaign is to go through the deadly tunnels of
the metro to find the caravan that were supposed to bring the next shipment of
pills. And this is just the beginning of the story. There's so much more
happening in there. They've really taken care of the story telling in it, just
like how they did with the other games in the series. I was always gripped with
what was happening next. And honestly, if it wasn't for real life
responsibilities, I could've very well kept the headset on my head for very long
sessions. Gameplay There's so much to talk about in terms of gameplay because
there's just so much variety. The game starts a little slow with a little bit of
story telling, but this is where you can just savor the environment and how good
the game looks. You then have kind of horror sections where it gets really tense
because you have those small dogs creatures that travels through ventilation
systems, and you just never know where they'll popup out and bite you. It's
crazy, because I'm usually too scared to jump back into games like this, but I
just wanted more of this one, I wanted to know what happens next, and as you
keep going and pushing through, you're getting more and more used to it and get
better and hunting them, which is very enjoyable. Speaking of horror, if you are
scared of spiders in VR. DO NOT play this game. Seriously, they even put a
warning at the start of the game because that's how crazy it gets. You do not
want to be at certain parts of the game if you have arachnophobia. You've been
warned. As you keep going through the game, you end up encountering humans,
which introduce some optional stealth section. You can go in all guns blazing,
but it's the type of game where you have to keep your ammunition dear to your
heart, if you know what I'm saying. So you can sneak around enemies, or sucker
punch them behind the head to knock them down. This is very useful because you
can then take the ammo out of their gun for when it's more important to use it.
And yeah the variety doesn't stop there, I'm telling you guys, you just never
get bored in this 9 hours campaign. You get sections on a train cart where you
have to shoot monsters chasing you. Horror sections where you have to sneak past
shadows, and much more. VR Enthusiasts For the VR enthusiasts, you guys will
love this. There's so much cool manual stuff that you have to do! Almost nothing
is done through the push of a button. First, you get a headlight, but the
battery doesn't last for too long, so you'll often have to grab your backpack,
take the battery out, and crank it until the battery is fully charged. And
that's not the only use of the battery. You can plug it in carts or an
electrical door to charge it for usage. Your backpack will also contain a
journal that tells you how many bullets you have left, and you can also check
your magazine in your gun to make sure you have some. You are also equipped with
a lighter, and the only use is to burn some spider webs that's in your way. The
backpack also contains a mask for when there's radiation around. You won't last
long if you don't wear it, trust me. As soon as you enter a radiation section,
your timer on your watch will start, and that's the amount of time that your air
canister has, and you'll have to switch to another one if you run out. There can
be also pretty tense moment when using it. When it comes to weapon switching or
reloading, that's still all manual. You can switch weapon by grabbing a second
backpack and picking what you need, and then you have different ways of
reloading your weapons. For example, the shotgun has a barrel where you have to
put a shell on every section of it. Man, I just love how you have to take care
of all of this during intense action, it's just so immersive. Graphics What you
see here is what you get in terms of graphics! Very good looking, especially on
the Meta Quest. It's super impressive in standalone. Probably one of the best
looking game on there to be honest. The resolution is taking a dip of course,
but I'll take that sacrifice because otherwise, the frames per second almost
never dipped. The attention to details is just amazing. You can grab a guitar or
a piano and just play it. Sometimes I just looked around and appreciated all the
things that they've put in a room. This game was well taking care of. You know,
something that happens a lot in games is that you kind of see the second half of
a game taking a dip in quality with issues and such. But this one just didn't
have any of that throughout, I was quite surprised! Like honestly, I don't even
think it needs any patches, from my experience anyway. It's that good.
Difficulty/Replayability If you know me, you know that I've played this game on
hardcore difficulty! And it was very well balanced! Sometimes in games, they
just increase the enemies health and damage and that's what makes a difficulty.
But no, I rank the balance of this one with one of my top balanced hardest
difficulty, which is grounded mode in Last of Us. It really gave that same
feeling. They give you just enough bullets to make it through. And every time
that you think that you're the king of the world because you've found a way to
get a handful of bullets, they'll throw you in a situation where you have to
spend it all, and you're back at being miserable and think about how you'll get
through these 10 enemies with 3 bullets. In term of replayability, other that
trying a harder difficulty, you have collectible postcards. You have to find 3
per chapters, and let me tell you, they hid those super well. I was actively
searching for them while desperately searching every nook and cranny for
bullets, and I still managed to miss out on a ton. I could see myself replaying
the game and trying to find them all and unlock all achievements, which is also
a nice additional thing to hunt. Final Thoughts Guys, I know that this game is
on the expensive side, but trust me, it's well worth it. This game is not only
my game of the year, but it's the absolute best VR game I've every played in my
life. I'm currently working my way through Arizona Sunshine 2 made by the same
developers, and Metro is just miles away better, it's crazy how much the jump in
quality is. The only downside I can say about the game is that because I'm 5
foot 4, every characters kind of felt like giants next to me, and when I was
shooting the turret, I always needed to be on my tippy toes to see what I was
shooting at. But I can definitely live with that. I hope that the industry learn
from this game and that we keep seeing this quality of polish from years to come
on big budget games. Honestly, it's what I want to see. Whatever Vertigo Games
release next, I'm buying it, no questions asked. They've got my full support.

This is by far one of the best mixed reality experiences you can have. It is a
real breath of fresh air to see a studio like Square Enix bring a full flat
screen rtitle to Virtual Reality. This game is all about tactics as it is a turn
based RPG. There are a ton of mechanics in it that will be a bit overwhelming to
most but if your an RPG fan and have played games like Final Fantasy Tactics you
will feel right at home. The game does have a tutorial level that does show
everything needed to play but be forewarned things get addicting fast. This game
has a massive story and its all now in full VR. So glad this was ported over and
I absolutely love that you can play it in passthrough mode too!

Underworld Seer puts you on the other side of the dungeon and allows you to
defeat the good guys who are coming to take clear your dungeon. This is
basically an attack and defense type game where you must build out your dungeon
with defenses and warriors in order to defend it from invaders. I really enjoy
the graphics of this game and the Darkest Dungeon vibe it gives. There are
several levels that take about 25 mins each to complete. You must really think
strategically when placing and setting up your army as it really does take some
mastering to learn each character and what they do. If your a fan of games that
are strategic, and basically any sim builders, this is worth a download.

Vendetta Forever is like a mixture of Hitman and Superhot. The object is to
fight your way by assassinating everything in your path with a unique gun
mechanic that allows you to slow down time and teleport from gun to gun. It is
all up to you to be able to figure out the best method and gun to travel to all
while dodging bullets, and enemies coming at you. This game is very fast paced
and you must think quick on your feet in order to beat each level. Speaking of
levels there are so many i couldnt even count them all which is great for replay
value. There is also a leaderboard for each level to compete against your
friends and the world. If your into Super Hot this is a must play title.

Mannequin is a really unique combo between hide and seek and prop hunt! If you
have played either of those and have a good friend group to try this out with
then I definitely recommend it! It's worth the price to get some laughs in with
your buddies. Quick run down of the game: The Agents goal is to eliminate all
the Mannequins while the Mannequins are tasked with wiping out all of the
Agents. Agents are armed with a gun that also doubles as a radar to help you
look for your opponents. Mannequins can take on the form of a frozen npc which
can help you get the jump on your opponents. Tag them to freeze them in time. Do
this to every Agent and you win! No matter what team you play on I'm sure you
will have a good time. Now go out there and don't trust anything! Not even the
people who aren't moving!

I love the old era of Final Fantasy, back when the battles in those games were
turn-based. This new game by Square Enix (the creators of FF series) takes me
back to the old times, the golden era of turn-based strategies! To be fair,
Triangle Strategy was first released in 2022 as a flat screen game on Steam,
which is why it has lots of lengthy cut scenes on a flat screen which are not
typical for games built from ground up for VR. But other than that, this game is
a dream come true for fans of strategy, tactics, and turn-based combat!
