WELCOME BEAUTIFUL LEMURS!

We’re back in Kraków on 19-20 November 2022. It’s the eighth edition of the
hackathon. This year we have two big and super important open tasks - LESS WASTE
and IoT! The pull prize is at 250 000 PLN and is still growing like crazy.
What’s the deal? Organizers and Partners present you with a wide range of
different tasks that you can work on during the hackathon. You choose the most
interesting challenge for you and try to solve it in a way that brings the most
effective solution to the community. You can participate as a lone wolf or
create a team you will be working with over the 24 hours of the hackathon. Who
can join? EVERYONE! If you are just a little creative, and you want to make the
world a better place, come and see how simple it is. During our event, you will
have a chance to create innovative solutions for tasks from many various fields.
We have space for over 3000 people, so take your friends and get ready for an
awesome weekend!

In the natural world, there is no such thing as “waste” – everything is recycled
down to every atom. But here comes the human. Rapid growth in the 19th century
started creating today’s modern, demanding consumers, Us.

A statistical European produces about 500 kg of municipal waste, and - according
to Eurostat data from 2020 - this value varies depending on the country from
about 280 kg (in Romania) to even 844 kg per inhabitant (in Denmark).

Recycling itself will not do the job. It’s a last call to radically slash the
waste output and take into the action 5 zero waste rules:
- refuse what you don’t need
- reduce what you do use
- reuse (or repair) whatever you can
- recycle what you can’t refuse or reduce
- rot what’s left over.

How to make everyone adopt the habits everyday and also keep them during a
crisis like pandemia? It’s time for you, the brightest minds in Europe, to come
up with the most complex solutions, during HackYeah 2022 in Kraków!
Let’s create a zero waste, meaningful future for all, before it’s too late!

more integrated and easier.

- make an optimization in patient care,
- automobiles operate,
- save our time and money.

IoT helps us work smarter, live smarter, and gain complete control over our
lives, but it’s also supporting our wellbeing behind the scenes. And it is just
a beginning!

Bio waste is organic waste generated in our homes from food or plant residues,
which undergo a natural process of degradation (biodegradation). The selected
organic residues can be used to produce compost that increases soil fertility or
biogas that can be used to generate energy. Potential is huge, but there are
many challenes on the way. That is why Malopolska Region is asking you to join
the forces to spread the idea of using the home- composter and benefits of
bio-waste segregation.
