Hello and welcome to the dedicated football.london live blog for all things
Arsenal. The pre-season tour of America looms and so far there is very little to
shout about for Mikel Arteta.

A deal for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori has finally been agreed,
according to reports, with a price of less than £40million in total being
finalised. He will sign a five-year deal.

Calafiori can be completed soon enough but there is now just a wait as Bologna
and Basel decide how to structure their own payments in regards to the 50%
sell-on.

This could see movement towards an exit for Jakub Kiwior speed up. There is
known interest in him from Italy with both Juventus and Inter being fans of his
work.

Elsewhere, Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is also of interest to Mikel
Arteta, as is his international teammate Nico Williams. Barcelona are seemingly
front runners for the winger, while it has been claimed that Arsenal will have
to sell players to compete for the Spain international.

In terms of outgoings, Emile Smith Rowe has been among those linked with a move
away, as Fulham and Crystal Palace circle in a potential move for the
midfielder. Eddie Nketiah is also attracting attention with Marseille said to be
readying another bid for him.

Also coming up today we have the latest on Raphinha (yes, again) as well as
Pedro Neto. All of this coming up and more throughout the day!

Stay up to date on all Arsenal news, transfer gossip and updates in our live
blog below.

ARSENAL FINALISING MOVE

The club are finalising a move for Ajax goalkeeper Tommy Setford ahead of their
trip to the United States.

The Gunners are said to have agreed a fee of €1m with the Dutch side and the
negotiations are thought to be in the final stages.

There is hope that a deal can be wrapped up so Setford can be part of the club’s
tour to the USA. Arsenal will jet off to the U.S on Sunday and play Bournemouth
on Wednesday.

LEROY SANE LINK

Spanish media have suggested that Arsenal are considering a swoop for the Bayern
Munich winger.

Given that he has 12 months left on his contract, Bayern could look at
offloading him this summer for a cut-price deal. Mikel Arteta is in the market
for a new winger and have also been linked with Raphinha, Pedro Neto and Nico
Williams.

ARSENAL PRAISED FOR PURSUING CALAFIORI DEAL

Former Arsenal star Bacary Sagna is pleased to see the Gunners are finally
closing in on a £45m deal for Riccardo Calafiori.

"Calafiori is very good and I’ve followed him a lot in Serie A this season," he
told Paddy Power. "I’ve seen a lot of Bologna games, and he’s one of the reasons
they were able to qualify for the Champions League.

"He’s calm and composed on the ball – he can break lines by committing and help
the side out offensively. He’d be a fantastic player for Arsenal – any club he
would join, he would be a fantastic addition."

MIKEL ARTETA'S STANCE ON EMILE SMITH ROWE

According to reports, Arteta is keen to keep Smith Rowe at Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners have turned down offers from Fulham and Crystal Palace during this
window. Both clubs are said to be expected to return with improved bids.

Fulham bid £30m while Palace are set to submit a proposal worth £35m plus
add-ons.

The 23-year-old was restricted to just three starts last season, but despite the
lack of minutes, the Guardian reports that the Spanish boss wants to keep him at
the club.

Gazetta dello Sport report that Inter Milan are the latest team to join the
transfer race for Kiwior.

The Italian publication adds that it would only be a loan with the option to
buy, as Tajon Buchanan is out for four to five months after sustaining a leg
injury for Canada at the Copa America.

Bologna, Milan and Juventus are also credited with an interest in Kiwior.

RICCARDO CALAFIORI CHAT WITH BOLOGNA REVEALED

It appears that the transfer saga involving Calafiori is coming to an end.

However, talks had stalled after both clubs were struggling to agree on a fee.
Fabrizio Romano revealed what the defender privately told the Bologna board to
convinced them to accept the deal with the Gunners.

Speaking on PlayBack, Romano said: "What I wanted to say is that Riccardo
Calafiori, in the last 24-48 hours, when he returned from holidays after the
Euros, spoke directly with the Bologna board and told them 'I understand that
you are also open to keeping me here, we’re going to play Champions League
football next season…'

"So Bologna really tried to keep the player at the club, but Riccardo Calafiori
told them: 'Please, let me fulfil my dream and let me go to Arsenal. I want to
go to Arsenal.'

This was the message from Riccardo Calafiori – ‘Let me go and let me fulfil my
dream’.”

GABRIEL JESUS POSITION

Despite some suggestions from Arsenal fans that the club may well be better off
without Gabriel Jesus, it has been said that those at the Emirates Stadium still
rate him extremely highly.

It is claimed that some see him as a top-five forward in the world.

Perhaps this explains why there hasn't been a massive push towards buying
another striker since Benjamin Sesko decided to remain at RB Leipzig?

sides as his future is unclear at the Emirates.

Fulham have had a £30m bid including add-ons bid rejected for his services
earlier this week. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are believed to be preparing an
offer of £35m including bonuses to try to tempt their London rivals into parting

He seems to have been in a fiery mood, not being impressed with Kai Havertz's

>
> "When you look at his statistics and how many years did he play in the Premier

CALAFIORI BATTLE

Liverpool have been pushed to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori ahead of
Arsenal...

Former Reds mideidler Didi Hamann told Top Offshore Casinos:

> Riccardo Calafiori is a very good player and is so comfortable on the ball,
> it’s no surprise that when he missed Italy's game against Switzerland, they
> put in a terrible performance.
>
> They were awful from start to finish, awful. That came after he set up the
> last minute equaliser against Croatia.
>
> I think Virgil van Dijk said he wants to stay and he wants to be with his
> fellow countryman Arne Slot, he wants to help him get back to winning ways at
> Liverpool.
>
> Ibrahima Konate is a brilliant defender but just has too many injuries.
>
> But Calafioriwould be a very good player depending on how much he'd cost. He's
> certainly a player that would be a starter for Liverpool given what he did for
> his club last season and for his country.
>
> He's the type of player who improves your team and obviously that’s mighty
> important when you want to challenge for trophies.

MERINO PRICE

Arsenal will have to pay around £30million to get Real Socieded midfielder Mikel
Merino this summer, Spanish reports say.

The player wants to play in the Champions League and has interest from Atletico
Madrid as well.

Madrid are also looking at Conor Gallagher as a possible summer addition, but he
would be significantly more expensive.

KIWIOR EXIT NOW OPEN?

So, now that Calafiori appears to be well on his way to Arsenal, will this open
up the exit for Jakub Kiwior?

He has been a target for Italian clubs this summer and Juventus plus Inter are
the two leading the race so far.

Bologna themselves have also been tipped with signing the Polish international
as a direct replacement for Calafiori.

Nothing so far has become advanced with Kiwior, but that could change in the
coming days now.

MORE ON YILMAZ

Turkish international Baris Alper Yilmaz has been spotted in the UK as Arsenal,
Tottenham, and Liverpool links continue to ramp up, writes football.london.

The Galatasaray midfielder/winger posted a photograph to Instagram which
appeared to show him wandering the streets of London with a wide smile on his
face - the snap was promptly deleted soon after. Arsenal and Spurs have been
tipped to be interested in the 24-year-old with Liverpool also thought to be
monitoring his situation.

Ankara Keciorengucu president, Sedat Tahiroglu, recently outlined Arsenal's
interest in Yilmaz and explained what fee the Gunners may need to pay to get a
deal over the line.

"We have 20 percent of Baris Alper Yilmaz's share but Galatasaray has not
requested a meeting with us on this issue," Tahiroglu told Turkish news outlet
Aksam. "I hear Liverpool and Arsenal want him but I know Nuri Sahin definitely
wants him [at Dortmund].

"I don't think the price will be €50 million (£42 million). He can be sold for
around €30 million (£25 million). The path needs to be paved for young people
for Turkish football. Hopefully, he will make the decision that is good for him.

"The money is not important. The important thing is for Baris Alper to go to a
team where he will be successful because he will be the face of Turkey."

The Red Devils are looking at bolstering their midfield ranks in the coming
weeks and are said to have turned their attention to Zubimendi just in case.

Arsenal have dropped out of the running thus far with the Real Sociedad player
thought to be happy in Spain and not pushing for an exit.
