Who has the best shot at making the Songwriters Hall Of Fame?

Billboard hits and Platinum records are usually what the top songwriters in
music are aiming for when they craft a track, but in the long run, their success
can earn them an achievement that is unlike any other: a spot in the Songwriters
Hall Of Fame. It’s that time of year again to see who has been given a
nomination for induction this upcoming June. Spoiler alert: none of them are a
surprise.
Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds is among the nominees for the Songwriters Hall of
Fame
There are 24 nominations with 12 each in the categories of Non-Performing and
Performing, and they're headlined by some pretty big names. Some of the nominees
under the Non-Performing section include the likes of Linda Perry, Randy
Edelman, and the duo Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia, while the Performing side
has Elvis Costello, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Toby Keith, and Cat Stevens.
Given the influence that all of these artists have had on music over the years,
it's a bit of a surprise that they're not already in the Hall Of Fame. Even
though they deserve it, they can't all make it this year, either. However, which
writers are the ones that might have the best shot?

Toby Keith's I Love this Bar & Grill restaurant in Virginia is causing a stir
among its citizen's due to a sign on the front door that reads, "NO GUNS
PERMITTED."

Country singer Toby Keith has banned customers from bringing guns into his
restaurant in Woodbridge, Virginia.
The new establishment is part of his I Love this Bar & Grill restaurant chain
and on the door a sign reads "NO GUNS PERMITTED," according to Fox News.
Virginia is a gun friendly state and citizens are allowed to take their firearm
into a bar or restaurant as long as it is visible, but owners do have the right
to ban guns if they want to.

Forbes Magazine have released their list of the 25 Highest Paid Musicians of the
2013, taking into account living artists' earnings between June 2012 to June
2013.
Beyonce Performing at the 'Made in America' Festival
The latest rich list was compiled from sources including Pollstar, the RIAA,
Nielsen SoundScan, artists' managers, lawyers and many of the artists
themselves. The figures are comprises of concert ticket sales, royalties,
publishing, merchandise sales, endorsement deals and other such business
ventures.

Forbes have once again compiled their yearly list of highest earning celebrities
in every possible respect and the winner for highest earning musician in 2013 is
a very familiar face indeed: Madonna. The Queen of Pop came out on top despite
tough competition and the fact that she didn't really create or release any new
music in 2013. Call that staying power.
Madge earned big through her touring and business ventures
According to the magazine, Madge earned most of her money over the last year
through touring, with her 'MDNA' tour grossing $305 million in total since it
was launched, earning the singer a cool amount in the process. Her other major
sources of income has been royalties, her clothing line and the launch of her
new fragrance, Forbes revealed, putting her total earnings for the past 12
months at an estimated $125 million.

Madonna has emerged as the top earning musician of the year after she raked in
£77m in ticket and merchandise sales, beating the likes of Lady GaGa and Bon
Jovi who fell in at second with £49.6 m and third with £49m respectively.
The List Shows That Madonna Is Completely Loaded.
The veteran popstar, who is clearly still very much on her game, made this
year's mega millions between June 2012 and June 2013, mainly thanks to her MDNA
world tour, 'Material Girl' clothing line, perfume brand and merchandise sales,
according to Forbes Magazine.

OKLAHOMA TWISTER RELIEF CONCERT GIVES GARTH BROOKS A CHANCE TO CHARM AUDIENCES

Garth Brooks, Toby Keith are the highlights of the Oklahoma tornado relief
benefit.

This Saturday marked the benefit concert, organized by Toby Keith for the
victims of the Oklahoma tornado, which devastated the city of Moore, Oklahoma
and neighboring areas in May. He benefit included performances by Oklahoma
natives Garth Brooks and Toby Keith himself. Proceeds from he Oklahoma Twister
Relief will go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund.
The event was organised by Keith himself.
According to the Tulsa World, 65,000 eager to help Oklahoma citizens, attended
the event. The attendees were reportedly drawn in mostly by Brooks’s star power
– and the prospect of helping their fellow man, of course. "It may sound cliché,
but I would not be here without Garth Brooks," said Tulsan Bob Partridge, 29.
"That said, it's a great thing they're doing here and hopefully, they raise a

Garth Brooks has agreed to join the bill for the Oklahoma Benefit Concert, a
bill that already includes the likes of fellow country stars Toby Keith and
Willie Nelson to name but two. The performance will aim to raise money for those
worse hit by the natural disaster and will take place July 6 at the University
of Oklahoma’s Gaylord Family Stadium at Owen Field.
Keith is organising much of the one-day festival and is an Oklahoma-native
himself, growing up in the city of Moore, which was badly damaged by a twister.
He told Tulsa World on Thursday; “Once we got the news that the tornado had hit
Toby’s hometown, Miss Yearwood and I told Toby we were at his service for
whatever he chose to do … I am amazed at the human spirit the tornado victims
have shown. I am humbled by the giving of the volunteers. It is an honor to get
to be a part of this healing process."
Brooks is the latest addition to a line-up that features Keith, Nelson, Trisha
Yearwood and Ronnie Dunn, with more possibly to come. Tickets will go on sale
for the event on June 21, each costing $35. The money raised from the benefit
will go towards helping the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief
Fund.

Dr Dre has become the highest earning musician of the year according to Forbes'
list of the world's highest-paid musicians of 2012.
The rapper, who has been working on the follow-up to 1999's 2001 for an
unprecedented time, has scooped up a whopping $110 million in pretax earnings
over the year, and no prizes for guessing that his Beats by Dre headphones are
at the root of his earning power. The majority of his massive earnings this year
come down to the sale of 51% of his Beats company to mobile phone maker HTC, who
bought a controlling stake in the business for $300 million earlier this year,
around $100 million of which went to Dre.
Whilst Dre taking the top spot may have come as a surprise to some, the rest of
the list is even more surprising with a number of musical icons proving that
they still have massive earning power despite not maintaining the popularity
they once had. Number two in the chart, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, is no
exception to this, as he scooped in a massive $80 million this year alone,
largely due to his ongoing work with The Wall Live Tour.

Blake Shelton went home after last nights (Nov 1) Country Music Awards with an
impressive three trophies to add to his mantle, taking Entertainer of the Year,
Male Vocalist and Song of the Year.
Shelton shared the honour of Best Song with his wife Miranda Lambert for their
ballad ‘Over You’, with Lambert breaking down in tears on stage over their
success. And as for Shelton’s Best Male Vocalist Award, it marked the third time
in a row that the singer has received the coveted award.
As well as Shelton and Lambert, other winners on the night included Country
legend Willie Nelson who was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the
ceremony held in Nashville, Tennessee. Alabama quartet Little Big Town found
double success as they collected the award for Vocal Group of the Year and
Single of the Year for their song ‘Pontoon’. Eric Church took home Album of the
Year for the smash hit Chief, whilst Toby Keith beat off competition to win
Music Video of the Year for the novelty track, ‘Red Solo Cup’.

It's going to be a tough fight to knock Taylor Swift from the top of this week's
chart and looking at this week's major contenders, it seems unlikely that any of
them have the commercial punch to do it. As major labels hold some of their big
releases back for the Christmas rush, others will be kept back until 2013, so
they don't get swamped by a barrage of festive compilations and greatest hits
releases.
Neil Young releases his 35th studio album this week. Psychedelic Pill was
written and recorded in collaboration with his sometime band, Crazy Horse,
marking their first album of original material since Greendale in 2003. As with
many of Young's latter-day releases, the quality is less than consistent, though
most reviews have erred in favour of the experienced rocker and Metacritic have
given it a highly respectable collated score of 82.
Black Country Communion - the super-group featuring Joe Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes,
Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian release their third album, Afterglow, this
week. There have been rumours bounding around that Black Country Communion were
on the verge of splitting but, with an album to promote and, that doesn't seem
likely just yet. The album's been well received in the world of rock, metal and
blues publications; the lure of Bonamassa may well be enough to create some
mainstream appeal for Afterglow, as well.
