WARRIORS' STEVE KERR MAKES EMOTIONAL PLEA AFTER TEXAS SCHOOL SHOOTING: 'WHEN ARE
WE GOING TO DO SOMETHING?'

Warriors coach Steve Kerr gave an emotional speech ahead of Golden State's Game
4 against the Dallas Mavericks after a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, on
Tuesday.

"We've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California and now we have
children murdered at school. When are we going to do something?" Kerr said at
his pregame news conference. "I'm so tired of getting up here and offering
condolences to the devastated families that are. I'm tired of the moments of
silence. Enough.

"There's 50 senators right now who refuse to vote on HRA, which is a background
check rule (for people who want to own firearms) the House passed a few years
ago. It's been sitting there."

Earlier on Tuesday, an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School,
killing at least 14 children and a teacher and wounding others, Gov. Greg Abbott
said. The governor and law enforcement identified the assailant as Salvador
Ramos and said he is dead.

Abbott added that two officers were wounded but are expected to survive.

Kerr, whose father was shot dead in a terrorist attack in Beirut in 1984, has
long been outspoken about his belief that stronger gun laws are needed.

"I want every person here, every person listening to this, to think about your
own child or grandchild, mother or father, sister, brother. How would you feel
if this happened to you today? We can't get numb to this. We can't sit here and
just read about and go, well, let's have a moment of silence. ... Fifty Senators
won't vote on it because they want to hold onto their own power. It's pathetic!
I've had enough!" Kerr said before leaving the podium.
