What is Nasi Kandar?

 * KANDAR ORIGINS

   Nasi Kandar A Malaysian dish combining rice and an assortment of curries,
   sides, and condiments.

   The choice of curries includes various combinations of vegetables, meat, or
   seafood. Traditionally associated with Penang, the dish was initially
   developed among the Indian community who brought their culinary traditions to
   Malaysia.

   They used to sell the dish using traditional kandar bamboo sticks, eventually
   giving the dish its current name.

 * NKPP & CHEF JOE

   Nasi Kandar Pulau Pinang is the final product devised by Chef Joe and co.

   The journey begun in the night markets, where traditional recipes were put to
   the test and refined by customer feedback and long nights of hard work.

   Only the best dishes would make the menu

 * AUTHENTIC MALAYSIAN CUSINE

   The end result has Nasi Kandar serving some of, if not the best Malaysian
   food in New Zealand.

   The demand grew too high for a single stall at the night markets and
   naturally progressed into a great little shop in Panmure, with fantastic
   ambiance.

 * NOTORIETY

   NKPP was fortunate enough to have their opening day hosted by the New Zealand
   Herald, along with top chefs, food bloggers, and local businessman.

   We would like to thank all who made this journey, beginning to end, possible.
