Zhang Ziyi is a new media artist working with real-time 3D rendering and
interactive immersive technology. Her whimsical fantasy color palette and
sophisticated semiotics bring contemporary themes to life in a heart-touching
way. In her iconic series, Butterfly Island, she creates digital butterflies,
each flying with unique data set on this magical island, exploring topics of
diversity and cultural inclusivity. Her work delves into themes of humanity,
heritage, social and ecological sustainability in the context of the
contemporary digital age. Ziyi’s art has been exhibited internationally across
China, Singapore, Europe, and the US, with notable showcases at the Ars
Electronica Festival (2023) in Austria and Singapore’s Landmark Building Ten
Square (2023).
