Native Vote 2024. The San Carlos Tribe is speakng out against recent legislation
recently by the U.S. House of Representatives that would further disenfranchise
Indigenous communities. The “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act” (SAVE),
introduced by House Republicans, would require anyone seeking to register to
vote in federal elections to provide an approved form of photo ID.

SAN CARLOS TRIBE DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY DUE TO WILD FIRE; ARSON SUSPECTED

The San Carlos Apache Tribe has declared a state of emergency and requested
disaster assistance from the state and federal governments to battle the Watch
Fire that has destroyed at least 13 homes leaving at least 75 people homeless
and forcing the evacuation of more than 400 people. Arson is suspected and under
investigation.
