DAVID BACH ASSUMES OFFICE AS IMD PRESIDENT

September 2024


David Bach officially took office as IMD President on 1 September 2024, four
months after being unanimously appointed by the IMD Supervisory Board, based on
the recommendation of a search committee. He said: “I am incredibly excited to
assume the IMD presidency at this time because we always have been, and – under
my leadership – are determined to continue to be a place of consequence.

> “IMD is one of the most vibrant meeting places for cutting-edge management
> practice and rigorous yet applied thought leadership anywhere.”

An award-winning writer and teacher, Bach joined IMD in 2020 as Professor of
Strategy and Political Economy and Dean of Innovation and Programs, after
previously serving as Deputy Dean at the Yale School of Management.

As President, Bach is looking to accelerate ongoing efforts to enhance the
school’s global reach and impact through programmatic and pedagogical
innovation. “My goal is to build on IMD’s tremendous legacy to broaden and
deepen our impact. In fact, I want us to become the world’s most impactful
business school,” said the new President, who earned an undergraduate degree
from Yale and a PhD in political science from the University of California,
Berkeley.

Bach is also one of the main architects of the Global Network for Advanced
Management, an alliance of 32 top global business schools from five continents,
of which IMD has been a member since 2012. His course, “The End of
Globalization?”, received the 2018 Ideas Worth Teaching Award from the Aspen
Institute.
