The final formula weighed in at 1,329 characters! And I used the LEFT() function
to chop the result down to the desired length. I glued together 40 repetitions
of that formula to make a string of 40 random characters. This tells Excel to
generate a random number from one to the length of the string and return one
character at that location. I started with a formula that returns one random
character drawn from that string living in cell D8:
=MID(D8,RANDBETWEEN(1,LEN(D8)),1) When I first created this spreadsheet, I used
a simple-minded technique to create a random password. The string of available
characters changes to match what you did. Try it now change some of the Yes
cells to No, or Nay, or Meh. But if that cell contains anything but Yes
(regardless of upper or lower case), don't include it. What this formula says
is, for each of the four character sets, if the adjacent cell contains Yes,
include the character set.

The & operator glues together strings of text. The formula to do that looks a
little complicated, but really, it's just long. To start, we need to build a
string of text that includes all the characters we've chosen to use. With the
scaffold in place, it's time to add the formulas. The completed scaffold should

little project doesn't require advanced knowledge, just the ability to follow
instructions. You’re not going to cobble up a handmade antivirus utility. You're
not likely to construct your own globe-spanning network of VPN servers, for
example. Some security tasks are undeniably beyond the do-it-yourself realm. We
can help you build it, using Microsoft Excel. If you're paranoid enough, you
might want to create your own random password generator. In theory, a hacker who
knows the algorithm and has access to one of your generated passwords could
replicate all subsequent generated passwords (though it would be difficult). In
most cases, though, the program uses what's called a pseudo-random algorithm.
The question is where do you get those random passwords? Just about every
password manager comes with its own random password generator, some of which are
better than others. A hacker might guess a simple-minded password like Fido or
crack it by brute force, but nobody could guess something like
P5$e?KqA+unh$RhPTlp1, and brute-forcing it would take impossibly long. Once you
have all your passwords safely stashed in the manager, replace any weak ones or
dupes with unique passwords nobody could guess-and not even you could remember.
Don’t try this without help-get a password manager. Do create a long, random,
unique password for every website. Don’t use simple passwords like your birthday
or your pet iguana’s name.

close proximity to the devices. Hive said: 'We agree any potential vulnerability

seriousness of this claim. Which? found the same issue with the popular Hive
Active plug, available at a wide range of retailers including Amazon, John
Lewis, Currys PC World, B&Q and Screwfix, although the window of opportunity for

Innr and Ajax smart plugs could be open to hackers Which? will be verifying the
fix when it becomes available. TP-Link has developed a fix for the vulnerability
with the Kasa smart plug and this will roll out in October 2020. TP-link also
shares the email address you used to set up the plug unencrypted with the
attackers. While that does reduce the risk, there are quite a few unsecure
gadgets that can be remotely hacked, which means an attacker can get around your
router's firewall, such as the wireless cameras we featured in June.Īfter
gaining access, the attack itself is trivial to do, and once compromised, the
hacked plug could remain on your network undetected. The attacker would have to
be on your wi-fi network to do the hack. The vulnerability is the result of weak
encryption used by TP-Link. A critical flaw we found in testing meant that an

You can change the viewing perspective of your screen capture and add
annotations. Snagit offers every editing tool we looked for, including the
ability to add new images, called stamps, onto your screenshot. If you save the
images as separate files on your computer, you can access them through the
software's interface. The Organize section arranges your captured images for
storage and retrieval. Once you capture an image, the software automatically
moves to the Edit section, where you can resize, annotate and add special
effects. The program also includes a webpage catalog maker, which quickly
gathers all of your screen captures and create a webpage in five simple steps.
This can dial in exactly where you want to draw a capturing region.



 * Use the video capture feature of SnagIt, then when you play it back, stop at
   the point you want to capture, then click the GIF or PNG icon to capture that
   frame (with the large cursor) as an image in SnagIt.Another useful feature
   offered by this application is a preview window, which shows a zoomed

   within Snagit. I was able to reproduce your issue on my computer, so I
   reached out to a Snagit Lead to make sure this was intended behavior. They
   got back to me within hours, with an explanation and an alternative. I logged
   a support ticket with the SnagIt people, as I suspect this was a bug. That
   seemed strange so I retested it and there’s no way I could capture a large
   mouse pointer with SnagIt (I’m using the latest 2022 version). It’s still
   hard to see on screen, even with that green
   
   I then tried to get a screenshot of a part of a Word screen, with the larger
   mouse pointer, but SnagIt changed it back to the standard size, though it did
   keep the colour change. To change the mouse pointer size and colour in
   Windows 10: Mouse settings > Adjust Mouse and Cursor Size, then use the
   slider to adjust the size of the pointer to change the colour, click the box
   with the rainbow colour wheel and then choose a colour. I changed it a few
   hours ago-and haven’t changed it back! It certainly makes finding and
   clicking things quicker, though the very large I-beam cursor is a bit of a
   nuisance when trying to select or edit text. I’m doing some online Word
   training for a company soon and as I’ll be pointing at stuff on the screen on
   the Microsoft Teams call, I figured I should set my mouse pointer to be
   larger and a different colour so they can see it easily as I move it about.
   It’s not that I find a cursor (or mouse pointer) hard to see on the screen…
   or so I thought.
