CONTINUE THE MISSION It could be that you are currently transitioning back into civilian life and wondering what it will be like to no longer be part of a unit with a mission. It may be that you've been out for a number of years, the kids are raised and you're ready to reconnect with an organization that has a common bond, dedicated to community service. It may be that you are someone without a military background who wants to be part of such an organization. If so, our Marine Corps League detachment is the place for you. See the bottom of the page for types of membership. Who We Are MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION DETAILS Membership for the first year is $45, except for the period 1 March to 30 May, when it is $35. After the initial enrollment the dues are $40 per year. Included is a subscription to the monthly MCL magazine, Semper Fi. If you are currently active duty, there is no membership fee. To contact our recruiting officer, send an e-mail to Albert Felicio. Include your phone number so he can call you. To apply for regular membership or for associate membership as a former member of another military service, you will need: * a DD Form 214 indicating honorable service (a General discharge under honorable circumstances fits that definition) * If you don't have your initial DD214 received upon discharge, you can request a replacement DD-214 by clicking here. * If you are currently on active duty, presenting your current military ID card or, if mailing your application, a copy, will do. * a completed membership form (below on the left) * a check for $45 made out to MCL 1205, or cash. To apply for associate membership if you have never been in the military, a DD-214 is not required. You will just need * a completed membership application form * and a check for $45 made out to Detachment 1205 If you are transferring from another detachment, use the transfer form below, right. Once your membershp materials are ready, you can either bring them to your initial meeting or mail them to us ahead of the meeting. It will be at the meeting that you will be voted in. The mailing address is: * Marine Corps League * PO Box 162 * Purcellville VA 20134 Don't let not having your DD-214 deter you from making contact and coming to a meeting or activity. It will only be needed to be formally voted in as a regular member. You can request a replacement DD Form 214 here. If you are interested in a non-military background associate membership you won't need a DD-214. DD-214 IS NOW ON LINE The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214s online: http://vetrecs.archives.gov/ or try http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records. Military veterans may now use a new online military personnel records system to request documents. Other individuals with a need for documents must still complete the Standard Form 180, which can be downloaded from the online web site.
