BE YOURSELF: AN EVENING WITH ANDY TAYLOR – JAN 15

Join Andy Taylor-Blenis in conversation with Sarah Bustin in an exploration of
Andy’s life story on Sunday 1/15 at 6:30pm ET. Andy will discuss her roots and
inspirations, how she became a leader in the folk dance community, and the
lessons she learned on her journey.

There will be a pre-recorded 45-minute interview, and a 15-minute Q&A will

Proceeds from the interview will be split between the Conny Taylor Oktoberfest
Scholarship, the UMass Lowell Folk Dance Club, and a GoFundMe in memory of
longtime dancer Donna La Rue. The recording will be available for purchase by
March 2023. This event is part of Tuesday Community Dance’s new series Be
YourSELF: Stories of Elders and Leaders in Folk dance.

TEXA-KOLO THANKSGIVING WEEKEND NOV 24-27, 2022


TEXA-KOLO 2022!

It is just a month away, during Thanksgiving Weekend, November 24-27, 2022,
offering the best of the 75th Anniversary Texas Camp and the 71st Kolo Festival.

Participants can join us online, or, for even more enjoyment, in person in Texas
or San Francisco. Both venues feature World Class dance teachers and musicians
and programs featuring dance, singing, and instrumental classes; lots of
dancing, plus sing-alongs, instrumental jam sessions, kafanas, parties, and
culture corners.

Zoom attendees will be able to enjoy portions of both events, as they are
welcomed into the Texa-Kolo virtual rooms. If you attended the last two years or
heard about it, you got a taste of what we are offering.

SAN ANTONIO FALL ZOOM FESTIVAL OCT 7-9, 2022

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE:


A SPECIAL FESTIVAL FEATURE: THE SUNDAY-AFTERNOON DANCE EXCHANGE!

Starting at 3:15pm Central Time Sunday afternoon we will host a special feature
event called “Out of the Vault”. It is a dance-exchange program that includes
brief 15-minute reviews of classic old dances that were once popular, but are
hardly ever done these days. This 2-hour session will be followed by our “Out of
the Vault” dance party!

The Dance Exchange features some great dance teachers like:

 * Franklin Houston, Holly Plotner, Alan and Karen Murray and Kathleen McDonagh
   from Texas
 * Henry Goldberg from Boston
 * Penny Brichta from the Chicago area

We hope you will enjoy our Dance Exchange program, and bring some of those old
popular dances back to your group!

MEGA-HYBRID DANCE WORKSHOP & PARTY FEATURES JAAP LEEGWATER ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 5

Jaap Leegwater will be with us this Friday, August 5,2022 for a Mega-Hybrid
Dance workshop and party 
live in-person at the studio and broadcast on Zoom for workshop
registrants. Jaap is planning to teach 6(six) new & old dances (including Lamba
Lamba Kopanica) 8-10pm and will dance with us & may play some music live during
the party 10-11pm.

BURNABY FOLK DANCERS WORKSHOP WITH HOLLY PLOTNER ON JUNE 1

Burnaby (IFD) Wednesday afternoon Zoom group is having guest teacher Holly
Plotner. She is teaching at our group on June 1st from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
(Pacific Time). Holly is an avid dancer and spent her early years dancing at
weddings and festivals in Chicago’s diverse ethnic community. However, she
didn’t discover International Folk Dancing until the mid-80’s, and was
immediately hooked. Holly, now living in Austin, Texas where she dances with
Austin International Folk Dancers, Texas International Folk Dancers, Austin
Scandinavian Dancers and Csárás Hungarian Dancers. She is a frequent dance
leader, performer, programmer, and teacher and has directed many camps,
workshops and performances. As well, Holly plays violin, percussion and sings in
several local bands in the Austin area. Currently, Holly and her two Siamese
kittens can be seen dancing at Zoom parties and camps all over the internet.

Holly’s teaching session, starting with warm-up dances, runs from 1:00 – 2:30 pm
(Pacific) and we’re looking forward to learning the dances she plans to teach.

After the break at 2:30 pm, we’ll resume our regular programming with our Zoom
team leading dances for your enjoyment.

Chicago), but we are promoting it with an online party with live music by Tom

Balkan & International folk dance with Burnaby International Folk Dancers

Come dance with us!  Burnaby International Folk Dancers Tuesday evening Zoom
sessions have changed to Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 – 3:00 pm (Pacific Time)
starting April 6th as we will be returning to weekly in-person dancing on
Tuesday evenings starting April 5th.

Monthly Parties:  Our parties are on the last Wednesday of each month from 1:00
