MATEMATIIKKA JA TILASTOTIEDE

Matematiikan ja tilastotieteen osasto on Suomen suurin matemaattisten tieteiden
yliopistoyksikkö. Matematiikan ja tilastotieteen osaston tutkimustoiminta on
monipuolista, ja monissa arvioinneissa sen tutkimustyö on saanut korkeimpia
pisteitä. Osastolla on vilkasta yhteistyötä muiden korkeakoulujen sekä monien
sektoritutkimuslaitosten kanssa Suomessa ja ulkomailla.

YHTEISTYÖ

Matematiikan ja tilastotieteen osasto tekee aktiivista yhteistyötä niin Suomessa
kuin kansainvälisestikin. Tuemme tiedekasvatusta ja matematiikan oppimista monin
eri tavoin ja olemme mukana kansainvälisissä verkostoissa, jotka edistävät
naisten asemaa matematiikassa. Yhteistyötoiminnallamme on pitkät perinteet,
sillä Suomen matemaattinen yhdistys on perustettu jo vuonna 1868 ja Suomen
Tilastoseura 1920.
