As we seek additional venues for future meetings, our next meeting will be in Fort Lauderdale, FL. a community actively engaged in the response to the HIV pandemic. We have heard the concerns raised by our LGBTQIA+ and Black communities and allies, as well as reproductive rights advocates about returning to Florida once again. Historically we have been welcomed in Fort Lauderdale and anticipate a similar warm welcome in 2024. Mayor Dean Trantalis, the city’s first openly gay mayor, notes on the city’s website that, “Greater Fort Lauderdale has hundreds of LGBT-owned businesses and annually welcomes more than 1.3 million LGBT visitors…Census data shows Fort Lauderdale with one of the highest concentrations of same-sex couple households in the nation”. Fort Lauderdale is home to the Stonewall National Museum & Archives as well as the World AIDS Museum. We anticipate that our presence in Fort Lauderdale will be a continuous expression of support for the community members and scientists who benefit this meeting. Since the first edition of this workshop in 2003 in St Maarten, the issues of HIV persistence and reservoirs have become increasingly relevant, not only for biologists but also for clinicians facing the problem of long-term control of this persistent retroviral infection. Several meetings now include sessions on these topics in their program, but this biennial workshop is unanimously recognized as THE original workshop focused exclusively on HIV reservoirs and eradication strategies. To this end, the program format will continue to follow the past successes and include presentations of new, unpublished data and a panel of experts to sum up the current data in the field. Priority will be given to the quality of scientific research and new data. We encourage robust scientific exchange, in a relaxed and friendly environment. To achieve these goals, the number of participants is limited and participants must have submitted abstracts for selection as either an oral or poster presentation. As in previous years, selection will be extremely rigorous and conducted by the Scientific Committee. We continue to prioritize the participation of young and newer investigators, through abstract-driven sessions and scholarship assistance. These scholarships have been made possible by our funding partners and the Steering Committee involvement. We are all very grateful for your participation, and hope to bring new energy, thinking and ideas to the field. We are looking forward to meeting with you again in Fort Lauderdale in December 2024, for what will be another successful edition of this unique meeting.
