   Pit Boss Owners Manual says that only probes bought from Pit Boss would work
   with their smokers/grills. I bought these to test and compare. I bought this
   and tested it on a pork shoulder over a 12 hour cook. Initially the temp
   difference between the probe that came with my smoker and this one was 6 deg
   different, but after about 15 minutes both probes were within 2 degrees of
   eachother (and a third digital probe). Throughout the cooking process they
   rarely differed.

   These work well for my intent. I got these to use with a pitmaster IQ130
   since their replacement probes were 3 times the cost. These showed the same
   temperature as theirs when I tested them side by side. The temperature is off
   from my thermoworks thermapen, but I attribute that to my controller and not
   necessarily the probe. The probe itself is rather thick so it’s difficult to
   use with some cuts like ribs, but overall they do the job.

   Looks and feels of good quality and pretty straightforward to install. I have
   a hood thermometer installed on my traeger and the temp seem to be about 15°
   lower than what the hood thermometer reads. Not a big deal but just got to
   watch it.

   I purchased this controller in December 2020 for my 2009 BBQ55. It has
   functioned well with light use until now. The controller has a short to
   ground and blows fuses. I re-installed the original 3 setting controller and
   it is working fine. There appears to be no warranty on this item and no way
   to contact the seller. BUYER BEWARE!

   I took a shot at using it to fix my worthless Masterbuilt controller and sure
   enough, it worked great. They use different wiring colors, so need to match
   up based on what it feeds, but the wiring diagram showed what colors go to
   what part and were easy to use and the connectors were the same. Temperature
   gauge is quick and quite accurate. Happy so far!

   Just the problem I had with the error code on the factory fan as shown on the
   product pictures. Once installed, you will hear the difference between the
   factory fan and this improved fan installed on a char griller 980 smoker

   We used this on our pitboss smoker and it's great because you plug it into
   your smoker and insert in your meat so all you have to do to check your meat
   temperature is read the Gage! You don't have to open your smoker and lose
   heat. I would recommend this to anyone it is awesome.

   These probes are not safe to use. I was cooking chicken, and saw that the
   probes were reading 180. I thought I’d overcooked my food, but when I opened
   my pit boss, the chicken still looked raw. So I went and grabbed my
   thermopro. Sure enough the chicken was in the 130s. I’ve posted a picture I
   just took showing that there is a considerable discrepancy. The whole point
   of using thermometers is to make sure you’re hitting certain temps, and these
   cannot be trusted.
