TONGA CHINA FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION PROFILE

 

 

TCFA was established in 2009, in the Kingdom of Tonga, by its Founder and
President, The

Princess Royal Her Royal Highness Princess Salote Mafile’o Pilolevu Tuita (HRH).

 

 

VISION

 

To deepen peace, continuous development and international understanding between
the people of Tonga and those of The People’s Republic of China through
Economic, Cultural and Social Exchange.

 

 

PURPOSE

TCFA exists to help foster closer friendship, mutual understanding and mutual
cooperation between the people of Tonga and China. We aim to achieve this
purpose through hosting groups from China to visit Tonga, sending our Tongan
people to China to learn from the developments in China, and support local
community and economic development through partnership of the Tongan and Chinese
people. We undertake these activities because we believe that through our mutual
understanding and cooperation, barriers can be broken down and we can coexist in
greater harmony, tolerance, and prosperity.

 

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

1. Tonga-China Friendship Association (TCFA) will develop good relations,
friendship and dialogue with persons and organizations in The People’s Republic
of China through:

a) Exchange visits;

b) Meetings, Forums, Lectures, Seminars, and

c) Publications

 

2. TCFA will promote Civil Society economic engagement by increasing mutually
beneficial cooperation with like institutions in The People’s Republic of China
in the areas of:

a) Trade & Investment – in particular Tourism, Manufacturing, Agriculture and

Fisheries

 

 

b) Education – in particular Science and Technology

c) Youth – in particular Sports, Performing Arts, and Business Development

d) Health

e) Environmental protection; and

f) Rural and Urban Development.

 

3. TCFA will develop cultural exchanges between Tonga based Civil Society
Organizations and Civil Society Organizations in The People’s Republic of China
through:

1. Inviting Art Troupes from The People’s Republic of China to tour Tonga, and

Performing artists from Tonga to tour the People’s Republic of China.

2. Sponsoring exhibitions and friendly visits from Tonga to The People’s
Republic of

China and vice versa, and

3. Hosting Individuals, Business Groups, and Cultural Groups from The People’s
Republic of China and assisting with reciprocal hosting rights in the People’s
Republic of China.
