This arrived very quickly within a day of ordering. I have Amazon Prime so that
may account for it but the company kept me informed on my mobile, three times,
to say where it was. Very professional. The driver carried it in to the house
for me too which was very helpful as it is heavy.An attractive, neat,
unobtrusive machine. Easy to set up and use. The only "grump" I have is that the
hose is short, another metre or even half a metre would be better. You need to
be near a window or some other outlet to expel the warm air. Also very quiet. My
house was 29C to 30C last week so I have much need of this!So far, very pleased
and would recommend.STOP PRESS: I bought another of these for upstairs. Very
good service from this company, especially with regard to replacing the 2nd one
I bought which had a fault. The replacement for that came the next day and they
arranged for the faulty unit to be picked up from my house which it has been. A
friend of mine who helped me set it up described it perfectly, his words, not
mine: "that's a nice bit of kit"!

We had an Igenix air conditioner for around 5 years (model IG9902). We cleaned
out the filters each year and it has been faultless but nothing lasts forever.
In the past couple of months, the compressor has been staying on longer and not
really cooling down the bedroom. When it had to start up, it made some odd
noises that sounded unhealthy. At that point, we knew that the compressor was on
the way out and it just isn't economically viable to replace a compressor and
you can't refill the unit with coolant gas as the unit is sealed. In the end, we
selected the IG9909 as it matched the output of the older one.
The IG9099 is a heavy lump so care is needed if you need to take it up a flight
of stairs. The unit comes with a window sealing kit which is a nice touch along
with the exhaust hose, supplied remote and would you believe it - a set of
batteries for the supplied remote. Considering manufacturers are trying to cut
corners with virtually everything (especially in these uncertain times), it was
a welcome addition. We left the unit undisturbed for twelve hours as suggested
by the manufacturer. We registered the two-year warranty (do this within 30 days
of purchase). When asked for the batch number (it’s not the label with the
barcode) as part of the warranty registration process, you'll find that number
on a small white label on box the unit arrived in so don't throw it away until
you have scribbled it down.
The IG9099 has three functions – it can use the internal fan to blow air round,
use a compressor to provide air cooling duties and act as a dehumidifier. The
control panel and simple display are located on top of the unit. It is a simple
unit to use but check the instruction book as some functions can only be set-up
using the remote control. The unit has castors so it can be moved around without
much effort although deep pile carpets could be challenging.
In operation, the IG9099 generates about 60db of noise – it is definitely
quieter than the old which IG9902 whose compressor was ‘lively’. The compressor
on the IG9099 is quieter. It takes three minutes for it to activate but that is
to protect the component. The air-cooling function is excellent. Depending on
the temperature of the room and speed of the internal fan, the room’s
temperature will drop quickly. One difference between this unit and the older
one, is that this one stops once the desired temperature is reached. I think
it’s great as it doesn’t have to use more power but my wife preferred the old
one as it turned off the compressor but still permitted the fan to run to help
blow the cold air around the bedroom. The dehumidifier works extremely well when
humidity is a problem – just remember to empty the tank but there is a display
telling you just in case. The internal fan can be solely used as a ‘fan’ if
required. The IG9099 has two speeds – low and high. Low is usually sufficient
most of the time. The unit is designed to provide coverage for up to 20m2 –
depending on who you ask, it could be a big room, a medium sized room etc.
The unit is rated at 'A' for energy consumption but remember that your energy
tariff will determine the final cost so if the cost per kwh is high, it would be
logical to assume the unit will be on for a shorter duration. As mentioned
earlier, the unit does power off when the conditions are met so the IG9099 will
save power (and money).
Before I finish the review, I’ve noticed that some people have said ‘those
standalone air conditioner units are noisy’. Yes, they do generate noise. The
compressor and fan are in the same box doing a lot of work. If you want the
set-up used by hotels and offices have, you’re talking thousands of pounds as
you have to factor in civils work.
So, there you have it. If you aren’t bothered by noise and want an effective
floor standing air conditioning unit that comes with a two-year warranty, the
IG9099 is a good choice. There is a dearer smart-enabled version of the IG9099
with Alexa/Google Assistant capability if you need it but personally I wouldn’t
spend the extra money.

I set this up in my bedroom. Placed it on my bedside cabinet so that the exhaust
hose is as straight as possible when sticking it out the window. (My window
doesn't work for the window kit provided but it doesn't matter.) I closed the
window on the pipe, (it's still slightly open but only to allow the pipe out)
pulled down the blinds as far as possible, closed the curtains and turned on my
machine.
The top opened and started blasting out cold air. My room was cool in minutes to
the point where I was satisfied with turning it off. The room is warming back up
again but we don't like using electricity too much in our house because of
bills.
Of course it is a bit noisy but that is not a problem if it's pumping out cold
air.
Very happy with my purchase. If you follow the instructions carefully, you
really shouldn't have any problems with it.

Ordered two. One arrived complete, the other was missing a plastic connector
without which the air conditioner could not work. Absolutely impossible to get a
spare part from Igenix in spite of emails and phone calls: they simply do not
ring back or care. In the end I got a refund from Amazon. Air conditioner cools
down the room but it is very noisy and not suitable for a bedroom unless you are
stone deaf. Also, the exhaust pipe is too short to vent out of the window
without falling back in. The Wi-Fi and Alexa stuff is just a useless gimmick.
Very disappointed to say the least.

I had bought this for my kitchen as I decorate cakes. I have found that recently
my cakes would be sticky with humidity and used this this week and had emptied
at least a cups worth of liquid. The cakes have been dry and my kitchen nice and
cool while I work. the only downside is is the hose is to short to reach my
kitchen window so have to put it out the back door, which I then taped up with a
bag to cover the large gap as the panel that is supplied isn't sufficient. I
wouldn't have been able to use the panel in the window anyway as its for sliding
windows, which mine is a push out frame. As for the noise level, yes its sort of
loud but with kitchen door closed, it cant be heard in rest of rooms. Its what I
would expect from a decent bit of kit to be honest. Working in an industrial
kitchen I find the noise level pretty much on par with my kitchen extraction to
be honest.

This portable AC worked relentlessly during the heatwave to keep my south facing
9.3 m2 office cooled down. When it was 39 C outside, my office was at 27 C. I
don’t think a portable AC could do any better than that.
Cons: remote doesn’t show the temperature set. Fan can only blow air upwards, no
straight tornares you. It only has an exhaust tube, not intake one, so it
creates a lot of negative pressure.
Pros: nice finish. Didn’t die when it was 39 C. It’s portable, so moved it to
the bedroom when it was night time.
A split AC would be much better. But if you can’t have that, this portable one
is a great stopgap.
