He received about two weeks of inpatient psychiatric treatment, according to a person familiar with investigators’ findings. At a news conference Thursday evening, Lewiston native Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) called for an assault weapons ban, a notable departure from his past votes against gun-control legislation. “The time has now come for me to take responsibility for this failure,” he said.
