Advertorial The Only Knife Sharpener that Professionals Recommend to Friends Kyle Holland | Tuesday, August 30, 2022 Sponsored By: I was over my buddy’s house for that first barbeque of the year about two weeks ago. He was cooking chicken (God help him), burgers, and dogs on his charcoal grill. Normally, I’d help out with these things (I am a chef, after all), but I was letting him struggle. He’s one of those macho guys who can’t accept help. It was clear that the knife was dull, but I knew better than to point that out. Any comment of mine would be met with a sharp “I know what I’m doing.” And so I quietly watched him struggle to cut the tomatoes. The tomatoes! The knife was literally putting dents into them instead of cutting through. I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t chuckling a bit on the inside. But I should’ve known what would happen next. So there he was, getting more and more frustrated. His face literally turning as red as the tomato. And there I was, getting more and more tickled as I watched him struggle. But the knife was so dull, it slipped right off the tomato. Let’s just say it wasn’t too dull to make its way half an inch through his finger. It was safe to say the barbeque was postponed. When we returned from the hospital (yes, the hospital), my buddy gifted with six stitches and a verbal lesson on properly handling knives, he promptly walked over to his knives and threw them all in the garbage can. “I’m done with these knives,” he said. “They don’t work. They’re too dull. I’m getting some new ones.” (That is a very, very family-friendly translation of what he said.) “Hold on,” I said, carefully pulling the knives back out of the can. “Just because they’re dull doesn’t mean they’re useless. That’s not an unsolvable problem, and it’s definitely no reason to throw them away. Just hold on to these until next week and I’ll have something for you that will sharpen them good as new.” Sure enough, next week the gang was all back at his place. Only this time, I arrived early with a gift. I brought him a Senzu Sharpener. “Give me a break,” my buddy said. “I have a sharpening rod. They don’t work.” Sharpening rods do work, but I didn’t contradict him. They’re just tough to use unless you really know what you’re doing. What I was giving him was something much better. It would make his knives sharper than the day he got them. “Use this,” I said. “And you’ll have those knives for life.” What is the Senzu Knife Sharpener? The Senzu Sharpener is the “cutting edge” (sorry, pun intended) of knife sharpening technology. It’s simply the easiest and fastest way to sharpen your knives, and it just happens to be the best, too. You can sharpen your entire set of knives in under 5 minutes. Safety is covered, too, as the non-slip base ensures steadiness, keeping you safe while you handle your cutlery. Plus, the handle makes it incredibly easy to hold and position. You just firmly grip the handle as you pull the blade through the slots, keeping your fingers out of harm’s way and your countertop free from scratches. Plus, it has a beautiful looking design. Its sleek chrome and black finish ensures it’ll complement any kitchen, which makes it a great gift idea, too. (As it was for my buddy… he loved it.) How does it work? The genius of the Senzu Sharpener is its two slots. The first is for that initial sharpening – bringing the blade back from being dull. The second is for the “fine-tuning” of the blade, giving it as sharp an edge as you could hope for. This 2-stage sharpening system is what really cuts down on the time. It’s the perfect combo for quickly sharpening your cutlery. The sharpening wheels are impregnated with diamond abrasive, so they’re guaranteed not to break down. You just insert the blade in each slot and run it back and forth from heel to tip until you’re happy with the edge. It doesn’t take any more than a few strokes. But… Is it Really Worth All This Hype? Since its public debut, the Senzu Sharpener has been constantly selling out! And it’s also amassed a ton of followers - from from celebrity chefs to regular people. Top chefs can’t seem to get enough of it: The Senzu Sharpener has easily developed a cult following. Here are some customer reviews: What a difference “Years ago, I bought a set of knives from Amway, and the instructions said they should be sharpened by a professional, not using a home sharpener. Since I couldn't find any professional knife sharpeners (I didn't try that hard), my knives simply got duller and duller without my really noticing it. Trying to cut a raw sweet potato was the eye-opener for me. Amway doesn't sell these knives any more and I thought I was going to have to invest in a high-end ($$$) set, but just didn't want to spend the money. Bought the senzu sharpener... I ran my knife through slots #1 and #2 ten times. Holy Cow. The difference in just that small amount of sharpening was amazing. I then grabbed every sharp knife I had in the kitchen, serrated and all, and ran them through the device. It was easy, it was quick, and the results were gratifying.” Fantastic Sharpener “Wow, this sharpener literally kept me from throwing away one of my knives. I have a counter chopping block set of knives, not high quality, but a solid set. The knives became so dull it was really pathetic. So, I invested in the Senzu Sharpener. I had to put the knife through the coarse sharpening side about 4-5 times (sets of 6 passes through the sharpener) to get an edge back on the knife, then finished it on the fine sharpening side. WOW. like a brand new knife!!! I was skeptical because of the not great quality of the knives to begin with, but this sharpener did the trick!” Finally A Sharpener To End All Others “This is the third knife sharpener I purchased in a month, and thankfully it is the last. I had to physically check my knives edges to tell that there was any change to their edges. The honing, or "slot 2" takes a nice edge from slot 1, and brings it to a razor sharp edge! The Senzu sharpener is without a doubt, the easiest to use, rapid sharpener I have come across. I would search till the ends of the earth to find another one should I ever need to replace it! If I loved this sharpener any more, I'd probably end up sleeping with it next to me on its own little pillow. The black and chrome color scheme fits right into my kitchen like all of my appliances and I doubt this will ever see a drawer.” I had the opportunity to speak with professional celebrity chef Jeff Champlagne about the Senzu Sharpener, and he liked it as much as me. Here’s what he had to say: “Oh yeah, the Senzu Sharpener’s great. It’s actually what we use on the set of Kolossal Kitchens. Knives need to be sharpened quickly in between takes and the Senzu Sharpener gets the job done fast while also being reliable. In fact, I think we’ve given a few away as gifts on the show. It’s perfect for the professional kitchen as well as the home. I even have one in my own kitchen!” - Jeff Champlagne, star of Kolossal Kitchens Here’s what I personally like about the Senzu Sharpener What most people don’t realize, is they either think that a knife can be sharpened a few times and after that it’s garbage, or they think that their knife is of such high quality that it will never need to be sharpened. As I mentioned, I’m a sous chef in a fine-dining restaurant (I’m not allowed to say which, but I served a delicious Pan-Seared Skuna Bay Salmon to an MLB owner just last week), so I know a thing or two about knives. You should see my personal chef’s knife – the blade is about half as thick as it used to be from all the sharpening. That’s how you get your money’s worth. A knife doesn’t need to cut through steel for it to be useful. But it should easily and safely cut through anything you’re going to be eating. The truth is, dull knives are dangerous. People get worried about a sharp knife, but a sharp knife won’t, say, slip off a tomato and gore your finger. All accidents in the kitchen involving a knife happen because of improper cutting technique or a dull blade. In fact, 1.2 million Americans visit the hospital each year due to being cut by a dull kitchen knife. I learned that as my buddy was in the ER adding to the statistic. So how did I know which sharpener to get my buddy? Because it’s the same kind that I own. And believe me, I did my homework. When I was starting my new job, I wanted a knife sharpener that I could travel between work and home. I didn’t want something real bulky, but I also didn’t want something that would break from the traveling. It had to be good enough to do the job in a professional kitchen, but also be simple enough for my family to use (dad’s teaching the kids how to cook). That was the same time I got hired at my current restaurant. Now, through culinary school and at all my previous jobs, the knife sharpeners were all “okay.” They were either cheap, and thus cheaply made, resulting in way too much time spent sharpening just to get an “acceptable” knife edge. (Plus they broke constantly.) Or they worked great, sharpening the blade quickly, but at an expensive price tag. It wasn’t until I started my new job that I really fell in love with a sharpener. The Senzu Sharpener gave my knives the sharp edge that my job demands while doing it quickly enough for it to be practical. I was slicing through steak as if I had a samurai sword. It made the whole day easier, which is a relief when you’re working in a kitchen. And I couldn’t believe the price when I looked it up. It was a fraction of the price of those expensive sharpeners! From that day, I was sold. I love having it at home because it’s easy to store. It easily fits into my kitchen drawer – it’s about the size of a box of spaghetti. Plus it’s sturdy and has few moving parts, so it can stand to be bumped around some. Here are some pictures of knives that I used the Senzu Knife Sharpener on (before and after): Now, how much does it cost? (And, is it worth it?) At $30, the Senzu Sharpener is well worth it. Think about it like this… if you never sharpen your knives, they might last a while, still. Maybe even a few years of cutting. However, they get dull, and, like you saw with my buddy, they get dangerous. So, every time you need to cut a tomato, you could go out and buy a new knife set, spending about 3x what you’d spend on the sharpener each time… or, you could invest in the Senzu Sharpener and have a perfectly sharp knife, every time. You can order it online from their official website here. Last word If you’re like my buddy, your knives just aren’t cutting it. But it’s not their fault. Get yourself an affordable, reliable knife sharpener. And it doesn’t get any better than the Senzu Sharpener. I worked for an hour to sharpen it with tools including a diamond hone, to no avail. Rather than give up I ordered a Senzu Knife Sharpener. This awesome sharpener worked like a charm. Six passes through the first slot I had a perfectly formed edge that was ready for honing on the second slot, and boom! Good as new! Even my dullest knife took only 10 strokes or so to produce a fantastic edge. Like Unlike · Reply · 32 · Aug 25, 2022 6:58 AM Brad Morgan · Home Depot Does this really work? If so, how does it compare to other knife sharpeners out there? Like Unlike · Reply · 43 · Aug 25, 2022 10:22 AM Cheryl Rackers · Perry High School, Perry, GA YES! Looks great, has a low profile so fits in a standard kitchen drawer. All great things. Like Unlike · Reply · 24 · Aug 29, 2022 7:28 AM Georgeann Genna · Idaho SO... this is a GREAT product. I have some really nice knives and an everyday set of JA Henkels with japanese steel. I'm the chef in the family. I have had the Henkels set for about 3 years. They are dull. THIS SHARPENER IS LEGIT. I ran the complete henkels set through both slots. This will sharpen them great. Almost top factory edge and just as good as an expensive sharpening block!
