SET UP EASY SCAN TO E-MAIL - BROTHER APPS
Easy Scan to E-Mail is a feature of Brother Apps that allows you to send scanned
data via email directly from your Brother machine, without configuring any email
server details.
Security - Between the Brother cloud server and your mail server, the data is
secured by SSL/TLS protocol. The document is immediately transferred to your
mail server, so the data does not remain in Brother server.
The screens shown may vary depending on the Brother machine.
If you don't see the Apps icon on the main screen, you may need to click Web
first.
SAVE RECIPIENT'S E-MAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SCANNING
You can save up to 10 email addresses for use with Easy Scan to E-mail. These
addresses are not saved in your machine's standard address book.
1. On the Brother machine and press Easy Scan to E-mail.
The location may vary. Typically, press ► on the Home screen, to display and
then press Apps. Press ► to display Easy Scan to E-mail.
For non-touchscreen models, scroll to (Apps) → Easy Scan to E-mail and press OK.
If you don't see the Apps icon on the main screen, you may need to click Web
first.
2. Do one of the following:
- If using Easy Scan to E-mail for the first time, or if there are no email
addresses saved, you be reminded to register an account. Press OK. Go to step 3.
- If email addresses have already been saved previously, go to step 3.
3. Press Edit Account.
4. Press Register Account.
You may also choose Edit E-mail Address or Delete Account. Follow the onscreen
prompts.
5. When advised to enter a display name for the account, press OK.
6. Enter the recipient's email address.
The layout of the keypad may vary depending on the Brother machine. For
non-touchscreen models, use the number keys to enter text.
7. Verify the email address you have entered is correct, and then press OK.
8. If advised about entering a display name, press OK.
9. Enter the display name that you want.
10. Verify the display name you have entered is correct, and then press OK.
11. When prompted for PIN code protection, do one of the following:
- To allow free entry to this account, select No. Go to step 14.
- To require a security PIN every time this account is used, select Yes. Go
to step 12.
12. Type a PIN code and then press OK.
13. Verify the PIN Code and then press Yes.
14. Once the account is registered, press OK.
15. Select OK to complete.
HOW TO SCAN AND SEND TO A SAVED E-MAIL ADDRESS
Before you use Easy Scan to E-mail, first save your recipients' email
addresses. Refer to: Save recipient’s E-mail address before scanning.
1. On the Brother machine and press Easy Scan to E-mail.
The location may vary. Typically, press ► on the Home screen, to display and
then press Apps. Press ► to display Easy Scan to E-mail.
For non-touchscreen models, scroll to (Apps) → Easy Scan to E-mail and press OK.
If you don't see the Apps icon on the main screen, you may need to click Web
first.
2. Press the recipient's account profile.
If you haven't already saved the recipient's email address, refer to: Save
recipient’s E-mail address before scanning.
If the machine prompts you to set a correct date and time, go to the Initial
Setup menu and set the Date & Time first.
3. Press OK.
4. Select the file type you want.
Use a PDF format for multi-page documents.
5. Change any scan settings, such as Scan Type or Resolution, and then select
OK.
6. Load the document that you want to scan, and then press OK.
7. The machine scans the document, and then sends it as an email attachment to
the recipient you have selected.
The recipient will receive the email from the Brother machine’s address. e.g.
FromBrotherDevice@brother.com
This address cannot be configured or changed.
If you receive "Server Error 05", this indicates that the scanned document's
file size has exceeded the feature's limits. If you're scanning a large number
of pages, reduce the amount of pages scanned at a time, and scan in smaller
batches.
