VALENTINE HACQUARD DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND 1401 MARIE MOUNT HALL COLLEGE PARK, MD 20742-7505 (301) 405-4935 HACQUARD -AT- UMD -DOT- EDU OVERVIEW I am a professor of Linguistics at the University of Maryland. My work focuses on formal semantics and its interfaces with syntax and pragmatics, mostly in the domain of modality and attitude reports. I am particularly interested in how these systems are constrained in natural language, and how children acquire them.
