MiddleVR is utilized at the Emerging Analytics Center (EAC) as the backbone of
its 26-projector CAVE installation. The software synchronizes applications and
their output across all of the CAVE’s projectors for stereoscopic viewing.
MiddleVR also handles tracking of devices and users within the CAVE as well as
the transmission of tracking data to processing applications. Users are able to
interact with the virtual environments as well as being immersed by stereo
viewing with the illusion of depth. Because of MiddleVR, the EAC is able to
demonstrate several in-house applications to a wide range of visitors as well as
work with collaborators in scientific visualization in our lab for more than a
decade.

The UQO Cyberpsychology Laboratory has been using different immersive
technologies for 25 years in its work on applications of virtual reality to
understand, prevent and treat mental health problems, from anxiety to
schizophrenia including mental health problems or body image.

Our Cave, has six sides and works mainly thanks to MiddleVR. Our virtual
environments are often deployed on head-mounted displays and run on Unity, so we
needed a solution that also allows them to be easily used on our vault.

The latter works with a single computer whose three graphics cards power our six
screens. MiddleVR integrates all our peripherals to recreate a perfect
immersion, in a very intuitive way.

We can therefore focus our efforts on developing powerful and effective
immersive experiences without worrying about integration in synchronized
multiscreen mode.

The challenges inherent to the installation were overcome thanks to the
dedication of a team of incomparable professionalism and expertise.
