First of all, stop asking such loaded questions. The truth is, no one knows. She’s still figuring herself out. That’s the problem with being raised in a cult – there is little chance to develop a healthy sense of personal identity. Individuals raised in high control environments have to work hard to discover who they really are when they escape. As of now, Liz knows she three things about herself for sure. She’s a writer, a dork and has undeniably red hair. Hey, it’s a start. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Letting Go — Out From “Under The Radar” RAISED IN A CULT When Liz first made moves to split from the oppressive cult in her life, the Church of Scientology, she announced her journey to the world. In an essay titled, Why I Cut Ties with My Scientologist Mother featured on Mike Rinder’s blog, she spoke her truth for the first time. “Today I say goodbye to the spiritual extortion. I say goodbye to threats, to silencing, to censoring and to ruling with fear. I don’t blame my mother for these things, but she is still playing the Scientology game and I want out.” Later, Liz went on to be depicted in an article by Tony Ortega, the foremost American Scientology journalist, in an article about her life, family and tragic history within the organization. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCIENTOLOGY: THE AFTERMATH In 2017, Liz Gale was featured on Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath (an Emmy winning A&E docuseries). All the skeletons in the closet were brought to light in this 44-minute episode currently available and Netflix. In true Scientology fashion, retaliation was swift and painful. Liz lost her family (the brainwashed ones), her home and her family’s hundred-year-old Oregon ranch. “Rejecting Scientology means rejecting your heritage” she was told by a family member who truly believed what they were saying. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leah Remini: Scientology The Aftermath Season 2, Episode 3 “The Perfect Scientology Family” WAS SPEAKING OUT WORTH IT? In a word, yes. On the path of rebuilding her life and discovering who she is, Liz returned to her first love: writing. She worked tirelessly penning the story that kept her up at night – that of a family trapped in a cult. Finally free to express herself with no restriction, her debut novel The Technique (78000 words, adult fiction) was born. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT’S NEXT FOR LIZ GALE?
