WHAT INSPIRED US TO CREATE SPITO?

Statements of spito creators.

There was one detail that kept me from using Arch Linux.Time and complexity of
system configuration. Now, thanks to Spito, I can configure my system in just a
few minutes.

Tomasz Mamala

Majkipl27

My motivation for developing Spito stemmed from the recognition of Linux's
strengths, such as privacy and performance, coupled with the desire to address
its complexity.I saw an opportunity to enhance Linux by introducing simplicity
through spito.

Bartłomiej Strama

I want to create kind of control panel for Linux that would be very flexible and
would support as many PCs as possible.Without spito it's almost impossible.

Tomasz Kulig

I know a lot of people, especially beginners have trouble configuring GNU/Linux
systems.Personally I am a huge fan of Open Source and GNU/Linux. I wanted to
share my passion with other people. This passion inspired me to participate in
the spito project which hopefully, will bring more people into the GNU/Linux and
save their precious time and nerves. Enjoy!

Seweryn Pajor

sewe2000

I always wanted to configure the system according to my needs, but it always
took a lot of time. With spito, it only takes a few minutes instead of hours.

Better "Bash"
Spito gives you possibilities, bash can't - dependencies.

HAVE I TOLD YOU THAT SPITO IS FAST?
LIKE. BLAZING. FAST.

Amount of time needed to configurate your system shown in a simple way.

Manual configuration

Using spito

Considering Hyprland, we found that using Spito reduced setup time from at least
an hour to just about 5 minutes. Isn't it impressive?

OK SPITO IS COOL.
BUT... HOW DOES IT EVEN WORK?

Glad you asked. Let me explain.

RULES

First of all, we need to talk about rules. Calm down, it's not about the rules
in the classroom, e.g. we don't talk without permission. In spito, rules are a
set of instructions that are used to configure your Linux system. Eg. "Install
vim" or "Set up a firewall". Some of them, might be complicated, and even
stretch across multiple files. But don't worry, spito will handle it for you.

RULESETS

Rulesets are just a collection of rules. They are used to group rules and are
posted as an repository on github. Rulesets are public and can be used by
anyone. You can also create your own ruleset and share it with others.

ENVIRONMENTS

And finally, we reach environments. Environments are a set of rules that are
used to configure a specific system. For example, you can have an environment
for your personal computer, and a different one for your server. You can also
have a different environment for your friend's computer, and so on. Environments
may be private or public, depending on your will to share it with others :D

That was a lot of text, wasn't it? anyways, let's move on.

SPITO-GUI

Besides of spito-cli, we also have Spito-gui. It is a graphical user interface
for spito. It's a tool that will help you manage your rules, rulesets and
environments all at one place. It's a simple and easy to use tool that will help
you to configure your Linux system in a more friendly way.
