biggest, most intimidating, forward but he plays fast and engages physically. He only logs around 10:00 TOI - with the bulk of his ice time coming at ES. Has enough skill to move up in the lineup if required. Provides depth scoring in a limited role. Vladislav GavrikovLD271 of 1 81 Fits in nicely with the Kings D-core. Slots as a 2D '2-way / match-up/ shutdown D' who provides some depth offense as well. Understated ability to make plays on the offensive blue line. Has a sneaky hard shot from distance. Big. Rangy. More of an 'in the way / shot blocker'' than physically punishing ... but he isn't shy about bumping up against opponents to kill plays and battle for pucks. Valuable. Can be deployed in a variety of roles.Pierre-Luc DuboisLW251 of 1 82 Fits the mold of the team the LA Kings identify themselves as. Big, strong, powerful, moves well and hard to defend. Logs just shy of 18:00 TOI. Bulk of his ice time comes at ES and PP. Leans on opponents in the hard areas. Difficult to move off the puck. When he sets up around the net he is a distraction for goalies. Generally aware in all three zones. Elite elements are power and offense.Quinton ByfieldC211 of 1 84 Power / Finesse forward who has found a home on the Kings top line with Kopitar and Kempe Compliments his line mates. Extends plays by absorbing contact and muscling his way through opponents. Heavy / hard to contain working off the cycle and heading to the net. Skates very well for his stature. When he has a head of steam, in transition, he gives opponents all they can handle. Sometimes it takes big/power forwards longer to adapt to the NHL game. Just scratching the surface. Logs 15:00 TOI - ES and PP. There's, at least, another level of offense on the horizon. Hard to play against. Imposing.Michael AndersonLD241 of 1 82 His entire game is on the rise. Paired with Drew Doughty at ES. Logging around 20:00 TOI - ES and PK. Does not have a role on the Kings PP. His minutes are hard minutes versus top six forwards. Moves well. Sound spatial awareness. Identifies what's developing around him and identifies his responsibilities on and off the puck. Aware. A '2-way D' who compliments his D-partner who is more of risk taker. Competes. Bodies up. Blocks shots on the PK. Provides second layer of offense as a puck mover - more than a shooter.Arthur KaliyevLW221 of 1 74 If there is a role for a 'specialist' in the NHL, Kaliyev might fit the description. Averaging around 14:00 TOI - ES and PP A pure shooter / goal scorer Kaliyev has an elite release. He catches pucks and directs them on goal accurately and efficiently. Not a burner in open ice. Not a transition threat. His defensive detail ranges as well. Element is offense. Has 2F upside but his overall game holds him back from more of a role over the course of a full 60 minutes.Phillip DanaultC301 of 1 86 Quite literally a 'jack of all trades' for the Kings Logs around 18:00 TOI. Deployed in all situations. Wins over 50% of his draws. Can play up and down the lineup. If the team needs him to provide better than secondary offense he has a role in the top six If the Kings require Danault to shut down a top opponent's line, he is a solid checker with sound three zone awareness and detail. Provides some push back physically at times. Competes. Plays the game the right way. Nothing exceptional in one category. Also no real deficiencies in his game. TrustworthyKevin FialaLW272 of 2 85 Fiala is a play driver who is a threat off the rush and has the skill to beat opponents 1vs1 / even 1 vs 2 when he drives the middle lane Although he's off to a slower start, goal scoring wise, in 23/24 he's equal parts shooter and distributor. His speed pushes opponents off their blue line. When he gets the edge he has the vision to pull up, at times, and distribute to open team mates joining the rush late. Logs over 18:00 TOI. Deployed at ES and PP#1. More energy than physicality. Gets pucks to the net. Element is offense, combined with high end compete ... which equals resultsTrevor MooreLW281 of 1 86 Moore has found a home in LA and is signed to a long-term contract He plays the game fast. Moore is quick to space and can push the play in transition. He leans shooter more than distributor overall but might be best described as equal parts Averaging over 17:00 TOI - deployed in all situations Energizer. Not physical. Pressures the play with his quickness. High end compete. Reliable three zone detail. Not just offense.Anze KopitarC361 of 1 91 Remains one of the most complete players in the entire NHL despite the fact he's 36 years young Big body. Hard to defend, especially along the wall / working off the cycle. Play maker. Leans distributor more than goal scorer but did score 28 goals last season Logs over 20:00 TOI. Used in all situations. 57% in the face-off circle. No holes Still an F1. Leads by example.
