Organelles: Structure, Function, and Disease
Biomedical and Biological Sciences
The cell is the fundamental unit of life, analogous to an organism, and is
composed of various compartments known as organelles. The structural and
functional regulation of these organelles underpins essential cellular functions
such as metabolism, information flow, and material transport. Dysfunctional
organelles disrupt homeostasis and are implicated in major human diseases,
including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and metabolic diseases.
Additionally, during infection, pathogens can exploit organelles to facilitate
their replication. Conversely, cells can adapt by remodeling organelles to
combat pathogen invasion and transmit immune signals. This conference aims to
convene leading scientists in the field of organelle biology to foster
interdisciplinary collaboration, spark innovative ideas, and explore new
research directions in the study of organelles.

Misfolded Proteins: from Molecules to Diseases
Biomedical and Biological Sciences
As the core molecules that play the central function in life activities,
proteins fold into specific conformations to execute their functions.
Correspondingly, misfolding of specific proteins may lead to serious diseases,
such as neurodegenerative disorders. In recent years, extensive
interdisciplinary approaches have been utilized to study misfolded proteins in
physiological or pathophysiological contexts, providing us with a comprehensive
understanding of them, but there are still many unsolved mysteries at all levels
and exciting ongoing directions. This symposium aims to provide a platform to
share cutting-edge discoveries and inspire collaborative research works related
to various aspects of misfolded proteins, from their atomic-level structure to
pathogenic mechanisms, from their formation to elimination, and from their
disease functions to relevant therapies.
