She was previously the interim fashion director at The Cut/New York magazine. Before that, Fung was market director at Yahoo Style and market and beauty director at CR Fashion Book. * Bifen Xu as managing editor. She was most recently the publishing audience development manager at McKinsey & Company and before that worked for Yahoo for seven years and launched the Yahoo Style vertical in 2014. * Celia Ellenberg as beauty director at large. WNDU-TV (NBC) in South Bend, Indiana, will bring back the award-winning journalist Joshua Short as an anchor on “16 News Now”. His first day will be on June 5th. She joined Yahoo News in 2014 and most recently served as head of programming. She has been with the newspaper since 2000 when she joined as a features writer and was, since 2019, the senior news director of current affairs and entertainment. Ryan Gould has been promoted to chief U.S. correspondent with Mergermarket and will now oversee mergers and acquisitions in North America. Bloomberg Opinion has named Howard Chua-Eoan as their new senior columnist based in London. Chua-Eoan previously was the international editor of Bloomberg Opinion and also was the deputy editor and managing editor of Bloomberg Businessweek. He spent 20 years at Time magazine, including almost 13 as the news director. Cassie Martin has been promoted to deputy managing editor with Science News. Martin has been with the magazine since March 2016 when she joined as an editorial assistant. She was previously a science writer for the now-defunct Ocean at MIT and a staff science writer at The Wildlife Society. CNBC in Singapore has hired Clement Tan to be their Asia-Pacific senior correspondent. Tan’s most recent media job was with Bloomberg News as the China Correspondent from May 2014 until May 2016. He also worked at Thomson Reuters, The Los Angeles Times and interned at The Atlantic back in 2009. Chandler R. Duster has been promoted to race and equality reporter at CNN. She previously was a breaking news reporter at CNN Politics from August 2019 until April 2023 and covered agriculture, justice, Congress, White House and campaigns. Before joining CNN, Duster spent over three years with NBC News where she held the roles of reporter, associate producer, interim managing editor and news desk assistant. KVUE-TV (ABC) in Austin, Texas, has named Travis Sattiewhite as their new news director and will begin on June 5. Sattiewhite arrives from NBC affiliate WVIT-TV in West Hartford, Connecticut, where he spent the last year and a half as the station’s assistant news director. Miranda Kennedy is now the executive producer of Vox’s flagship daily news podcast and radio show, “Today, Explained” and will lead its editorial team. Kennedy comes from NPR where she spent seven years and a half, most recently as an editor leading their international teams developing true crime episodic podcast series for NPR. Wisconsin Public Radio has announced Mallory Cheng as their new midday host and news producer for its new podcast “Wisconsin Today.” Prior to joining the media, she was a producer at NPR station WUWM-FM in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Daniel Murphy has been named a commerce writer for Today.com. Murphy began as a contributing writer in October 2020 before joining the team full-time as an associate editor in April 2021. KMVT-TV (CBS) and KSVT-TV (Fox), the sister stations in Twin Falls, Idaho, have welcomed Eric Walters as general manager. He starts June 12 and is currently wrapping up his duties as the news director of WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Virginia. Before that, Walters was the news director at WBTW-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. David Kaplar has been hired by WTVG-TV (ABC) in Toledo, Ohio, as news director. He joins the station after spending the past five years at WOWT-TV (NBC) in Omaha, Nebraska, as news director. Kaplar has also held top newsroom positions at WEWS-TV (ABC) in Cleveland, Ohio, and WTAJ-TV in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Media Moves at Yahoo Finance, HuffPost & Guardian US, Los Angeles Magazine Names New Top Editor May 12, 2023 Los Angeles Magazine has named Shirley Halperin as its next editor in chief. The veteran journalist will join the magazine on June 15 after spending the past seven years as the executive editor for music at Variety. Prior to that, Halperin was the news director at Billboard and the music editor at The Hollywood Reporter. HuffPost has promoted Kevin Robillard to senior politics editor. He was previously a senior political reporter at the outlet, a position he has held since joining the staff in 2018. Prior to that, Robillard covered Senate and gubernatorial races at Politico for seven years as campaigns reporter. Lauren Williams has been appointed deputy editor for race and equity at the Guardian US. She will lead editorial coverage on race, identity, and inequality across all teams and desks in the Guardian US newsroom and starts on May 30. Williams joins Guardian US following a five-year tenure at The Atlantic, most recently as a senior editor where she launched a vertical dedicated to the complexity of American identity. Prior to that, she was a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard, and before that was the features editor for Essence. Vivian Jones is now a state politics and government reporter at The Tennessean. Jones previously held a similar position at Main Street Media of Tennessee as a government reporter for over two years. She also worked at The Center Square and WORLD Radio. Sally Holmes has joined InStyle as their new editor in chief. Holmes previously spent over five years at Marie Claire; first as a digital director from February 2018 until September 2020 and then as the editor in chief from September 2020 until April 2023. Her articles also appeared in ELLE Magazine and New York Magazine. The Washington Post as announced that Sarah Ellison has taken the new role of national enterprise reporter. She will now focus on the intersection of democracy, politics, and media. Ellison has been a staff writer at The Post since she joined in January 2018. Christi Calucchia will now handle senior commerce editor duties at Prevention and will oversee the shopping guides and product roundups in the health, fitness and wellness sections. Calucchia spent the last year at Shape.com as their News Editor. New York Daily News has added Téa Kvetenadze to its team as a real estate reporter. She was most recently freelancing as a stringer for The New York Times. Prior to joining The Times, Kvetenadze was a breaking news reporter at Forbes and an editorial intern at POLITICO in New York. Dympna Ugwu-Oju has been hired as a K-12 editor at EdSource, a nonprofit journalism outlet. Ugwu-Oju was previously the senior editor of Fresnoland Lab at The Fresno Bee, a platform focusing on reporting news at the intersection of housing, water, neighborhoods, and inequality. Bloomberg News announced that Julie Fine will be joining as Texas’ bureau chief on June 5th. Scotti most recent media role was deputy editor of The Americas at Reuters. He spent the last four years as the editor in chief of Skift, a website he joined in March 2018 as a managing editor. Crain's New York Business has tapped Mario Marroquin as as a real estate reporter; he started May 1. He has covered real estate at Markets Group and NJBiz, and in a freelance capacity for The Real Deal and the San Diego Business Journal, among other publications. Before that Marroquin was a New York state economy correspondent for USA Today. Diane King Hall has joined Yahoo Finance as an anchor and reporter. She joins the outlet from CBS News, where she was a correspondent and fill-in anchor for "CBS Morning News" since 2017. Prior to that, King Hall reported for Spectrum and CNN. SportsBusiness has welcomed Jonathan Rest as global sports reporter. He spent the past two years as head of content at TransferRoom, and before that spent 11 years at Sportcal writing about all facets of the sports business sector. Bloomberg Government has added one analyst and one reporter to its team in Washington, D.C.: * On April 24, Cooper Lohr joined as a legislative analyst. Lohr previously was writing posts and reports for the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). * Also joining the media during the last week of April was Omma Seddiq as a Technology Policy Reporter. Before joining Bloomberg, she spent almost three years at Business Insider where she was a politics fellow, a junior politics reporter and a politics reporter. Meg Marco will now handle executive editor duties at Wired in New York. Marco had previously been the editor in chief of the Observer for almost two years. Her articles also appeared in ProPublica, Axios, The Wall Street Journal, Consumer Reports and Gawker Media. Anthony Antoine will join KRIV-TV, the Fox station in Houston, Texas, as an anchor. He starts in July and will co-anchor the evening news alongside Caroline Collins. Most recently, Antoine was the morning news anchor on WWBT-TV in Richmond, Virginia. He worked in Virginia for five years and before that spent six years at WCIA-TV in Champagne, Illinois. NBC-affiliate station KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas, has brought over Clara Benitez as an anchor and reporter. Benitez returns to Texas as she spent nearly three years between 2018 and 2021 at Nexstar Media Group. She previously was a reporter with Fox affiliate station KSWB-TV in San Diego, California. Phil Reed has been named co-anchor at KHBS-TV and KHOG-TV both in Fort Smith-Fayetteville, Arkansas. On the ABCs affiliated stations, he will be seen and heard during the weekday morning newscast. Reed has been with the stations as a reporter since August 2022. NBC-affiliate KPNX-TV in Phoenix, Arizona, will officially add Allison Rodriguez on May 15 when she will be joining as a co-anchor on “Today in AZ”. Rodriguez arrives from the ABC-affiliated KNXV-TV in Phoenix, Arizona, where she has been a news anchor for the past three years. KCRG-TV, the ABC affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has welcomed Danielle Wagner as an anchor and reporter. She joins the station from WEAU-TV in Wisconsin, where she was an evening anchor since 2015. Prior to that, Wagner reported for KWWL-TV in Eastern Iowa. Erica Hill-Rodriguez is the new news director at KTLA-TV, the CW station in Los Angeles. She was previously the VP and news director at Fox Television Stations and before that spent more than a decade leading stations owned by Tribune Media. Isabel Rosales has been promoted to the position of national correspondent at CNN based in Atlanta. Rosales was a newsource correspondent since she joined CNN in Washington in April 2021. She also worked four years and a half as a news anchor and crime reporter at the ABC-affiliated station WFTS-TV, in Tampa, Florida. NBC affiliate WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana has appointed Gary Wordlaw as the news director of the station. He will take on his new role on May 22nd. Wordlaw has over 35 years of experience in broadcasting with the largest local television markets and also won numerous awards. John Ehrhart has been named the new news director of WGME-TV in Quincy, Illinois, an NBC affiliate station. Ehrhart had been the interim news director at KGWN-TV in Cheyenne, Wyoming, from September 2022 until January 2023. She previously spent nearly eight years at the New York Post, most recently as senior reporter and producer for Decider. V Magazine and VMAN have recruited Savannah Sobrevilla as editor, where she will work mostly on print. Previously, Sobrevilla was the editorial manager at Diane von Furstenberg and before that had stints as a copy writer at Mood Fabrics and The Edge360. Three new reporters have joined The Washington Post: * On April 10, Samantha Chery joined The Post as a breaking news reporter. Chery has been with the newspaper since June 2022 when she joined as a features intern and then moved on to be a multiplatform editor. Her articles also appeared in The Lily, Andscape and South Florida Sun Sentinel. * Herb Scribner also joined on April 10 as a breaking news reporter. He arrives at the newspaper from Axios where he spent the last year as a reporter. Before Axios, Herb spent eight years at Deseret News as an entertainment reporter and editor. * After spending the last three year in a half as an assistant editor, Mikhail Klimentov has been appointed an afternoon & evening editor on the foreign desk. Before joining the media, he was an associate editor at Atlantic 57. The Boston Globe welcomed Sean Philip Cotter as a reporter focusing on the city’s police department. Cotter was previously a reporter at The Boston Herald covering politics and city hall. His work also appeared in The Patriot Ledger and The York Dispatch. Lizzy Briskin is the new print food editor at Food Network Magazine, where she will covers food news and products, recipes, and reported culinary features. She joins the team from Real Simple, where she was a food editor for a little over a year. He previously held the same title with Grid from September 2021 until April 2023. * Also coming from Grid is Lili Pike and she is joining as a China reporter. Technology news site The Information added Kalley Huang to its team as a reporter on April 24. Huang arrives from The New York Times where she spent almost a year as a technology reporting fellow. Jaysha Patel has been named morning reporter at KABC-TV, an ABC affiliate station in Glendale, California. Patel will be reporting for the 4, 5, 6 and 11 a.m. newscasts, Monday through Friday. She has been with the station since July 2021 as a community reporter. ABC-affiliated station WJCL-TV in Savannah, Georgia, has promoted Kimberly Eller to the position of news director. Eller has been with Hearst Television since April 2018 when she joined as the assistant news director at NBC affiliate KSBW-TV in Salinas, California. Tyler Laporte has been promoted to assistant program director at WTMD-FM in Towson, Maryland. The Non-commercial station owned by Towson University hired Laporte back in 2008 as a music director and host after he interned there in 2007. KSAT-TV in San Antonio, Texas, promoted Larry Ramirez to the position of sports director. Ramirez has been with the ABC-affiliated station since October 2004 and has been the station's weekend sports anchor and noon sports anchor ever since. He oversees the magazine's journalism across all platforms and manages TIME's newsroom. Prior to TIME, he was a correspondent at Reuters, an associated editor at Newsweek, and a reporter at The Daily Beast. POLITICO has announced a couple of moves on its Politics team: * David Siders has moved from national political correspondent to politics editor. He has been on staff since 2016, starting with California Playbook before turning to the national desk. * Sally Goldenberg has moved from New York’s City Hall bureau chief to a role as politics reporter with a focus on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the ‘24 primary. She’s been with POLITICO since 2013, covering everything from city hall to the Bill de Blasio administration, to real estate. The Chicago Sun-Times has appointed Dave Newbart as managing editor. Newbart was already serving as the interim managing editor since June 2022 and has been with the Sun-Times since August 2018. Danyel Smith has joined The New York Times Magazine as a contributing writer. Smith, who is also the author of “Shine Bright”, worked previously for over three years at ESPN as a media executive. She was also an editor at Billboard and served as chief content officer of Vibe Media Group. The Advocate has welcomed Lara Nicholson as a crime reporter where she interned in 2019-2020 and also in 2021. Nicholson has spent the last year as a Florida Parishes reporter at The Times-Picayune. Wyatte Grantham-Philips has recently been hired by The Associated Press to be their new business reporter focusing on trending news. Grantham-Philips was previously a trending reporter at USA Today for almost three years. Cosmopolitan has named Christen A. Johnson to the position of lifestyle editor and will be covering topics including home, health and wellness, travel, food, and much more. She joined the magazine in August 2021 as an associate news editor and was previously with the Chicago Tribune. Lilly Blomquist has been promoted to assistant editor at Brides after spending the last two years as an editorial assistant. Blomquist past work includes editorial assistant at Real Weddings, lifestyle writer at Elon News Network and over a year of freelance writing. Maddie Ngo has returned to the Washington bureau of The New York Times as a reporter. She covers economics and follows the money to see where all those billions of dollars in stimulus funds went. Ngo comes back to The Times after covering economic policy, the Fed and inflation at Vox for most of the past year. She was also a 2021-22 Rosenbaum fellow at the paper. Lee Howard is now the business editor of The Day in New London, Connecticut. He has been with the newspaper since 1983 and has held multiple roles such as copy editor, page one editor, business reporter, and most recently community editor, business reporter and podcaster. Joining Arc Network is Jonathan Tully as a digital content editor where he will work closely with Human Resource Executive. Tully had a brief stint at Mashable as an editor and writer and previously worked as a special projects editor for City & State Florida. Bloomberg Law added a new associate litigation reporter when Billy Jean Louis joined in late March. Jean Louis most recently was a diversity, equity and inclusion reporter at The Baltimore Sun. Yahoo Finance has named Josh Schafer for the position of markets reporter and will now be covering trending stock stories, economic data and anything market-related. Schafer has already been handling writing and producing roles with the media since 2021. After more than 15 years at CNN, Adam Levy has joined BBC News as executive producer and news editor based in Washington, D.C. MOst recently, Levy served as a showrunner of "Jake Tapper's Book Club" and "20 Questions with Audie Cornish" on CNN+, and before that produced "State of the Union with Jake Tapper" and "Fareed Zakaria GPS." David Rohde will move to NBC News as senior executive editor, national security, starting next month. He is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who was most recently the executive editor of the New Yorker‘s digital site. Rohde has also previously spent nearly six years at Reuters as a national security investigations editor and reporter, and prior to that reported for The New York Times for 14 years. O’Rourke spent almost two years, from July 2014 until April 2016, with the station as a reporter and fill-in anchor. She was most recently an evening news anchor at the ABC-affiliate WKEF-TV and Fox-affiliate WRGT-TV, both in Dayton, Ohio.
